Asking for wheels for X-mas. Which ones.

So I asking for lift stuff this Christmas. I am getting Doestch 3 inch lift spindles and I have Expo springs out back. I am going to to run either 32x11.5s on 15x8s. Maybe 31x10.5s if I can't find some 32s that I can afford. I'm worried about which wheels to get because of offset and back spacing.

A. I need them to clear my lift spindles B. I don't want them hanging out of my truck. I do have extend-a-fender flares though so I have some wiggle room there.

My price cap is $100 per wheel.

I've been told 3.75" back space, 19mm offset is what I need and 3 of my wheels options have that so I'm thinking that's my winner. But I'm assuming that measurement is without fender flares, none-the-less fender flares that stick out 2 inches like mine.

I'm a fan of polished rims with round holes, no D-windows or spokes. You will see the style in what I'm looking at. For the love on jesus no Dick Cepek fan boys.

I'm looking on summit racing.com right now. I need to pick them out so I can give my list to my dad.

Here's what I got, most of them are Mickey Thompson Classic II style:

U.S. Wheel 97 Series Chrome Modular Wheels $61.95
Backspacing (in) 3.750 in.
Offset -19.00mm
U.S. Wheel 97-5812 - U.S. Wheel 97 Series Chrome Modular Wheels - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Cragar Chrome Soft 8 Wheels $65.95
Backspacing (in) 4.000 in.
Offset -12.00mm
Cragar 3985812 - Cragar Chrome Soft 8 Wheels - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Eagle Alloys 058 Series Polished Wheels $101.95 (2 dollars over my price cap and the backspacing is really low, not sure about these ones)
Backspacing (in) 3.250 in.
Offset -30.00mm
Eagle Alloys 0589-5812 - Eagle Alloys 058 Series Polished Wheels - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Summit Racing® 164 Series Polished Wheels $94.95 (Exact copies of the U.S. Wheel 97, just more expensive)
Backspacing (in) 3.750 in.
Offset -19.00mm
Summit Racing SUM-164-5865P - Summit Racing® 164 Series Polished Wheels - Overview - SummitRacing.com

American Racing Polished Baja Wheels $97.95
Backspacing (in) 3.750 in.
Offset -19.00mm
American Racing 1725865 - American Racing Polished Baja Wheels - Overview - SummitRacing.com
I'm probably gonna go with the U.S. Wheel 97 Series. They are the cheapest and they are one of the 3 wheels I posted that have the recommended BS and offset. Any pics of these on a Ranger? Will these be my best bet?

Sounds like you already have your mind set, but I wouldn't get a steel wheel.

the american racing wheels are pretty cool

dabumblebee 10-23-2010 05:14 PM

aluminum all the wayy

Masteratarms93 10-23-2010 05:49 PM

Besides rust problems and keeping them clean and shiny, any particular reason?

I wouldn't be off roading so no problems with bent steel or anything like that.

djfllmn 10-23-2010 05:51 PM

aluminum is lighter

Masteratarms93 10-23-2010 05:57 PM

If I do go aluminum then I defiantly need to start looking at those more. I have dcided 3.750 BS. and -19.00mm offset are the way to go so it will just be a matter of choice. I will defiantly put those AM Racinf Bajas at the top of my list. I like them and I like the price. Plus I beat I can have my dad get them on a special at Summit Racing. During Camarofest the whole inventory was 10% off.

My Pacer wheels look EXACTLY like Mickey Thompsons and cost right at $100 per wheel. sometimes summit has theirs on sale for $89 a wheel for their version of the MT.

Also close to christmas, 4wheelparts.com should be running some good percetages off. Take it from someone who has owned both chrome and polished aluminum, get the aluminum

Masteratarms93 10-23-2010 06:15 PM

Well I need less weight. My little 4 cylinder is already gonna be stressing with all that tire weight.

I did the category search on Summit and got 3 hits that fit in my $100 price range lol. If I change my cap to $120 though I can add about 4 different Pro Comp wheels to my choices.

American Racing Polished Baja Wheels $98
American Racing 1725865 - American Racing Polished Baja Wheels - Overview - SummitRacing.com
these are probably gonna be it. i like the look and that are JUST under $100

American Racing Silver Outlaw II Wheels $90
Lil' cheaper. Look similar. Look too much like stock 90s F-150 wheels.
These ones:
Wheel A-01701U10, 1995 FORD F150 / TRUCK Wheels F150 / TRUCK Rims

Summit Racing® 164 Series Polished Wheels $95
And of course these. I saw a fews picks of these on a Chevy fullsize on another forum. They look pretty much like the Bajas. I think for the extra $3 I will get the non-generics.

If they don't fit right. I'm hunting you all down. :biglaugh:

Masteratarms93 10-23-2010 06:23 PM

4wheeparts wants $120 a piece. i found 5% off but summit still has them cheaper. i'll keep an eye out for when they go on sale or summit has a percent off day or something.

Hmmm if Summits aluminum ones drops from $95 to $89 I would defiantly go for that one over the American Racing Baja. $10 a wheel is worth it. I will watch it.

I checked out those Pacers. The place where I looked wanted $95 a piece plus shipping so it wouldn't make any sense.

I think the Bajas will be fine. I let my dad know. WOOT!! Should be lifted a few months before I leave for Boot Camp.

aluminum is the only way to go. and they really are not much effort
