with the backspacing on a rim, the smaller the number, the farther the rim sticks out?

how risky would it be using stock components with 2.75" backspacing and 33x12.50 or 35x12.50 tires?

ford is 5 on 4.5" wheel pattern correct?

With all due respect, Chris -- I have answered this question at least 3 times in the past 6 months. Did you seach for the first question.

For the second part -- probably not any more risky them me running 35x12.5 on 3.25" backspacing really. And it will cause problems sooner than smaller tires. No one can tell you how soon. If you want to run big, you either build to suit (like my rear axle), or you put up with the maintenance overhead.

All Ford vehicles differ.

The 5 on 4.5 pattern matches Jeep Wranglers and Cherokees -- but the backspacing of those wheels is larger than ours, and the Jeep wheels are not hub-centric on our trucks.

Many aftermarket wheels are designed to be lug-centric and have larger center holes that fit everything.

i know different fords differ on wheel pattern. and i know that all things will wear if you run big. i was just wondering if i would expect to here crunch at the first curb i hit or sumthin.

ive decided not to go big. im goin with the 4" superlift and runnin 33s. i saw an older gen ranger with working 4x4 and it sat up pretty high but was runnin 31s and i liked that idea since the holes around here have hills at the beginning and end and/or ruts/trenches in the middle. this guy was clearing and i was hitting.

lol. I don't think so. You should see the whoops and what not I ran in Wharton during my testing. You may break something, but it's not going to get real "brittle" all of a sudden. It's still pretty strong.

33's are still "big" to my mind. I think you should just get 3.75" to 3.25" backspaced wheels though. I don't think you need any wider track than that for stability and you won't be stressing things so much. Also, those backspacings are more common.
