Backspacing Problems

I have a friend that has a an Edge and he has doetsch spindles and he wants to put 16"x10" wheels on his truck. The only "problem" is that the backspace is 4.5" will that present a problem??

He doesn't offraod his truck much at all cuase it's 2WD, so spacers would be an option...

I thought stock was 4"...o well I can't win em all.

Spacers are never a good idea, even on street trucks, it compromises alot of safety.

tell him to find different wheels, what kind is he looking at that are 4.5" back spacing ?

All late model factory Ranger wheels have 7" width and 4.5" backspacing. But IIRC, some spindle kits won't work with stock backspacing.

I talked to Bobbi at Doetsch because I'm getting the same kit and she said they work with the stock wheels.

So that means it would work?

Your going to need 6 inches of backspacing with a 10inch wide wheel and those spindles.

4.5" of backspacing would work fine. 6" I wouldn't do personallyl. I mean, if you wanted stock "appearance", yes. But I wouldn't put the wheels that far in when they are that wide.
