Bfg At Or Bfg Mt?
While I greatly enjoyed my BFG ATs and found them highly dependable, I also found them to wear too fast. The tires only lasted for 35k for me and were rotated religiously. The day that convinced me to finally get new tires was when I almost slid into someone in very light rain, enough to wet the roads. I acted fast enough, popped into 4hi and went up a curb onto a walk/running/biking path here in town. It also didn't help that the car I almost hit had no brake lights and failed to signal. Thankfully I was following far enough. The very next day I bought a set of 33x10.5x15 BFG MTs. I've been HIGHLY happy with these tires. My only complaint is that on gravel/dirt roads out here they tend to not grip as well as the ATs did. Aside from that they either equal or better the ATs on other terrains - the largest being rocky surfaces (I'm far from rock crawling) and obviously mud. I flew through a straight away at 50 mph in wet sandy mud labor day weekend 06 and felt like I was on the nearby highway at the same speed.
Given you live in NC and you guys get a helluva lot more rain out there then here, if you haven't purchased your tires as this thread is 3 weeks old I'd strongly suggest going with the MTs.
