Its getting close to tire time!! Ya'll all seen my threads on my tire research. Final question, if I put 32s on my 15" Alcoas on the 06, will they rub---no T-Bar crank? If so, 31s it is, I'm not crankin tbars. I would search but I'm on blackberry--not easy.

 

I am pretty sure they are gonna scrub. I had mine on 10" wheels, but they still scrubbed. Minor trimming of the valence helped though...

 

hmmm probably gonna rub a little without a t-bar crank. on my 2003 i had 275 65 18s (32s) on without adjustment and they rubbed against my sway bar, nothing major but theres two shiny spots where the tires hit occasionally and rubbed the paint off them...good luck!

 

Crank the bars a SMALL bit to prevent rubbing. Your ride won't be worse with just a little bit and you'll clear them better.

 

i bet they rub too but it wont be much. nothing to worry about.

 

Mine didn't rub that much with the 32s on 15x8s. I would think with the skinner rim they would rub less like my 35s on stock rims.

 

His valance is more squared off though so he might have a tighter area.

 

If you go with 33x10.5 you should be ok.

i think its a 31 don't rub.

i found out the other night that my 30s rub on the passenger side fully turned left. it rubs on that flap for the engine compartment cover that isn't on the driver side, that used to be.

 

I was going to go with 32's but then I decided that I would just want something bigger if I ever lifted it any. So I just went ahead and leveled it and went with 33's. Very glad I did.

 

I'll think about it. One day I'm thinkib I'll get the 32s, the next, I'm like, well ill just stay with a 31. We'll see. I'm also lookin at cost too. I'm lookin at wear and tear faster, I'm already payin a crapload for the tires (BFGs) then 32s add the price of an algnment bc ill have to crank T-bars, then it also adds the cost of having the stealership reprogramming my speedo unless someone local wants to put their programmer on it to change tire size in computer or whatever you have to do. All of this on top of what I have to save for wedding. The finace will have my hide...lol If I go 32s, I have to do nothing and they still look great.

 

Go 32's. Take a look back at Redneckstone's truck when he had them on his Alcoa's to get an idea.

 

Yeah his truck was BA with em on there. I know they "look" BA, its just cost wise crap associarted with all the stuff you have to do to have them. Ya know if God had blessed me with more money instead of all these good looks, I'd be alright..Haha, j/k. Well I have about a month or two to think about it. We'll have to see

 

i have a level 2 and i had to take my mud flap brackets off and just for good measure I cranked the t-bars 3 complete turns



32"x11.5" Pro Comp All Terrains on 15"x8" Pro Comp 8179's

 

32x11.5x15 on my stock alcoa's DID NOT RUB AT ALL. ANYWHERE. even with my mud flaps on. the 15x7 alcoa's make the tire skinny and dont cause problems. and NO i did not crank the T-bars and I had tired old B bars too

 

31" to 32" will reduce clearance EVERYWHERE, from the tread outwards (away from the hub) by 1/2 inch, that is not much... you shouldn't have problems with that, unless you are hardcore flexing

where you MAY run into trouble is if you go wider... you haven't mentioned width measurements at all... the sway bar SHOULDN'T be effected if you only go taller, not wider, unless your sway bar is in the way of the tire (tread outwards)

on the other hand though, these trucks SHOULD be able to run tire chains (for icy conditions) with no clearance issues, and they are about 1/2 inch, not only would the half inch take up the top and the bottom, but it would make a tire that is 31x10.5 (for example) act like a 32x11.5. as the chain wraps around the sidewall AND the tread...

i wouldn't think that you would be that close to rubbing... you should have atleast an inch, at the smallest point, lock to lock... but i am just basing this on opinion, not knowledge of the ranger...

 

i have 32 11 50s on my 06 lvl2 and no rub at all anywhere! looks and actually drives 10 times better! no tbar cranc and nothing removed! all stock. the tires are actually my only mod at this time.

 

I ran 33x12.5 Big Horns with minor rubbing so i'm sure 32's wouldn't rub at all. Trying to decide now to go with 33x10.5 or 32x11.5.

why not 33x11.5? that's what i would do

if not, are you going for functionality or asthetics? asthetics, it would be height more than width, although skinny tires are UGLY, wide meas POWER!!!!! :D

functionality, depends on what you are doing, muddy trails with deep ruts, you want the height... deep gravel or deep sand, you want wide snow that isless than 1 foot, and of moderate consistancy, you want skinny tall tires (to cut through the snow, rather than float on top of it)
