What do you all know about running two different tire sizes?
255/60R17 in the front, 275/55R17 in the rear.
They are both 29.1", one is about 10" wide, the other is 11", according to tirerack.com.
Being directional AND different sizes, this would mean NO rotation. I hate that idea, especially for a daily driver...
I'd either have to run skinnier in the rear, or fatter in the front either way if I ran all four the same size.
Opinions?

No rotation? What are you talking about. What I think I see is they're for a Rear Wheel Drive car that wants more traction in th eback. Obviously not a 4WD vehicle, even though they're same height they will wear at different speeds. Otherwise, I dont see what the fuss is about..?
Oh now i see, rotation for wear, i was thinking rotation when driving. You can rotate back and forth, which is all I thought you needed for a car. I thought it was only 4WD trucks that you have to rotate in a pattern.
Wierd still..

I dont see the problem here, Most vettes and a lot of other cars run different size rims front and rear, so they cant usually be rotated (cause directional tires are used mostly...).
Now, If the are the exact same size width rim, I think its stupid. We had a guy come in where I work (discuont tire co.) with some 17 inch lorenzos to put on a mustang. The rims were the same size (17x8 I think, it was a while ago). I forgot the size tire he used, but the rear tires were way too wide for the rims, and I was the only one who could get them on cause of the tight fit. The fronts were about right size for the rim. It looked stupid. The rears were bubblin out very badly and the fronts looked legit. We tried to talk him into gettin the proper rim setup but he was just too stubborn to realize that it was a retarded idea
Sad thing is that it was a nice mustang, and the guy was a trendy moron...
So what width rims are you workin with?? that might help with the decision.
Generally though, I would say with the same width and height rims, stick with the same size tire....

Adam,I had 255/50/17's on my truck when I had the Cobra R's on it and it looked good.I think your 255/60/17's may look too tall.I know what you are saying with what you have now looks too short.Mine looked about right and it was lowered about 3" in the front.I will see if I can dig up some pics for you.

I need some new[er] tires, plus I really don't care for the Kumho Ecsta Supra's. My friend had them and I thought they sucked.
I wanted some more sidewall, but in the 17", I am pretty limited on what tire size I can get.
I considered 255/50's, but that is a smaller tire yet. I think I will just stay with the 275/40's and deal with a small sidewall. All I have to do is make it out of Michigan without hitting a pothole!
No, they fit perfectly.
