In my opinion m/t's are better in any circumstance if you know how to use them.

They do fine in sand and gravel out here in NM and grip a helluva lot better on rock and packed trails than the ATs. There's some local trails I've done countless trips through. Trails that I'd call moderate. There have been instances where had I still had my ATs I'd probably have to use 4x4. Matter of fact I've gone places in 2wd with the MTs that the AT would have definitely required me to toggle on 4x4. Throw in your summer and winter monsoons that tend to be wetter than out monsoons here in NM and I'd side with the MTs. Rucker Canyon down in the Chiricahuas (Cochise Co) and SE of Douglas were fun as hell back during Labor Day Weekend 06 with all the rain and my MTs. My best friend's 97 4x4 ranger had mild trouble with his 31 BFG ATs. Me I was just flying around in the wet sand, no worries at all.
hell yea man thanks for your post! Im glad that we share terrain and you can give me helpful input! (not that everyone doesnt give me great input )
Sorry if its been posted before -> Blurple

I bought a set of the BFG A/T and I love them. The guys over at http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/ believe that the MT's are better. These guys are pretty hardcore jeep wheelers and they know their stuff. Just search for BFG mud tires or soemthing like that and you'll see what their opinion is. I love my BFG A/T's but the MTs do look much better. I's say go for the MT's from a fellow Arizonian, but you can't go wrong with either tire!

ironsin...

this guy's in AZ, http://www.expeditionswest.com/

You might read his tire article too. A lot of what he talks about is very insightful. I haven't read the site in a while, but he too is biased towards the MTs. Most of the lifted/modified TACOs use them out here as well.
