biggest tire on my 15x7s?

I have the aluminum split spoke 15x7s on my Ranger. I saw an 01 extended cab today at a dealership with the fabtech 5.5 kit and a bodylift, (I am assuming its a 3 inch, it looked like a 3 inch tall spacer) and it was on 35x12.50 15s and it looked awesome. I sat in it and my eye level was clearly over the the stock 2000 expidition next to it and the truck looked like it had enough room to clear the tires for offroading wihtout rubbing anything (I didnt drive it though, I am going to drive it later tonight!). Anyways, my main question is if 35s will fit properly onto my 15x7s or do I need aftermarket rims with at least a width of 8 inches? I like my rims, I opted for them, so I want to keep them. IF not recomended for my rims, am I still safe using them? I do not offroad (well maybe a little over dragged roads, but never over whoops or anything crazy). I just want my street queen to be in the sky like that 01 was. THanks

hmmmm... 35 x 12.5 are nice
for that width 7" is just a bit too narrow
besides it will look pinched - especially if you have a squared off tread
if you stay at 31 x 10.5 it's a great fit for your rims
that size could be considered is stock but looks very agressive
I have 33 x 10.5 and they ride fine on the stock 7" rims
no lift at all so my wheel wells are stuffed
it's too bad they don't really make many 32 x 11.5 x 15 (try looking for a close size??) because that would be safe on a 7" width

ive seen 33s on 15x7s and they look fine, I just really want to keep my stock rims cause I payed extra for them.

i had 33x12.50s on stock 15x7s for a few months, it can definately be done and didn't cause me problems on/off road but I don't know if I'd trust that setup in the long run

all the rubber from the tire will not touch the ground on a 7inch wheel and 12.5 inch tire.
I have 15x8 with a 12.5 tire and not all the tire touches.

I would say 15x8 would be the smallest size to go with
15x10's would be even better

thanks guys

If you run less pressure, it will even out.

I would not put a 15x10 on there, the leverage will kill wheel bearings.

34x10.5 LTB will work, they make a 35x12.50 BFG A/T, that will work.

By the time they are fully touching the ground though you are underinflated and wearing the outsides of the tire out. Granted there is not a good situation for full contact and tire wear when running 12.5 on a 7 or 8 inch wide wheel.

Ya it will kill the wheel bearing, but so many people do it.
You are either going to wear the bearing, or the center of the tire because it all wont touch.

either way something is going to go.

and like bill said above...you have to run way low pressure for the tire to even out.

I dont think so, I think if you run about 30-32 PSI instead of 35-40, it should be quite alright. Now, if you run 25, it will wear the shoulders of the tire. Also, with running a lower pressure, it will give you a little better ride as well.

Low pressure kills gas mileage though.

I'd get as tall as you can, and stick w/ a 10.5" wide. What tire were you looking at?

I have 15x8 with 33x12.5 and i was running 27psi for a while. Not all of the tire was touching.
