Bolt pattern/hub size

Ok so I'm hoping for any help and info that anyone can throw my way. I have a 2003 ford ranger 4x4 running the factory ford 16 inch rims with 245/75/16s. I have a 1997 2wd ranger with 14 inch rims and 225/70/14 tires. I thought I would be able to take the extra set of 245's mounted on the 16 inch rims and put them on my 2wd to pass inspections since the tires on the 97 are basically bald. However, when I mounted them up it seems that the hub size is different. Is there anyway to find the specs on this or anyway to make it work? I searched but didn't find it and never really came across it on any of the forums. Out of the 4 rangers I've had the 97 i just picked up is the only one that wasn't a 4x4 so I guess I assumed they would work. Any help is much appreciated!

It should work. What isn't fitting?

The 2wd ranger has no hub or anything to go over.

What wheel is that your 03 has on it?

the ones my 03 has are the factory "tear-drop" style. when i saw it wasn't fitting I tried measuring it and the center hole looked roughly 2-3/4". the ones for the 2wd 97 are the "deer-hoof" pattern and when I measured that it looked closer to 2-1/2".
the ones that seem to have a bigger center from my 03 fit tight on the 03, but are kinda sloppy on the 97. its like it being supported by the bolts instead of the "hub" or whatever is the proper name for it

The wheels are not Hub centric wheels.
All Ranger wheels have the bolt pattern 5x4.5 so it should fit.

IIRC, some late year 97's (4x4 ones usually) came with the tear drop wheels)
It'll feel a bit loose, but the wheels center on the studs rather than the hub. So just put the lugs on it and check it then. It should be fine.

oh i gotcha thanks a lot! I thought that they were supposed to center in the hubs as opposed to the studs cuz on the 03 thats how they fit. on the 97 they fit like you were saying on the studs. I wasn't sure if that would be a safety concern or anything. thanks a lot for all your help!!!
