Brand and style of tire for a 2003 Ranger Edge 4X4?
 

Hoping to get some opinions on what brand and style of tire I should buy for my 2003 Ford Ranger Edge 4X4? I don't really do any off-roading. Mostly drive the truck back and forth to work, and put my fishing boat in and out of the water. I live in Missouri, so I do have to drive around in the snow on and off through the winter.

I am looking at 265/75/16's. I am not wanting to spend a fortune. Would like to stay in the $600 - $800 range...mounted and balanced.

Well, stock size should be 245-75-16. I would stick with that, esp. since you don't off road much.

I would say based on your descriptions, I would say either Bridgestone Dueler Revo AT 2, or Firestone Destination AT.

well, i went to sears and had new tires put on. i chose the 265/70/16's in a Bridgestone Dueler APT IV. i was leaning toward the BFG Rugged Trail T/A, but the salesman told me the Bridgestone's were a lot better tire. Now, I'm a little worried. After reading some reviews online, I think I probably made the wrong choice.

I considered the BFG A/T's, but the tread looks like it is too aggressive for my needs. I just don't do any off-roading, and the A/T's look like that is what they are made for.

The Bridgestone's are running a special where you can try them for 30 days, and return them if you don't like them. I need some advice here...should I keep them or not. They look nice, and the 265/70/16 is a perfect size. Just don't know if it's worth the hassle of returning them.

I had the Rugged Trails when I got my F150 and they were a nice tire. Rode good, did good in the sand and rain. But just drive the Bridgestones for a while, if you like how they ride then go for it. The Rugged Trails are a great daily driver tire though.

The bad thing about shops like that are unless you get lucky and find a trustworthy salesman most are just trying to sell you whatever they can make the most profit on. Sites like www.tirerack.com are great for getting actually owner reviews on.

One last piece of info...the Brigestone's were $780 out the door.

If you like them and are happy with them, keep them.

ive ran bfg all terrains and am currently running the bridgestones the bfg's imo are wayyyyyy better never had them in snow but both tires are 32's and the bfgs seem to last longer and where way better in sand and mud my friend had the nittos and loved them

I bought the BFG AT's, I don't care for them in snow, they just don't give me the good bite feel like my previous tires had. The Hankook Dynapro AT's are a nice tire...Although on a larger truck like a 3/4 or 1 ton they wear very quickly, I"m guessing they'd do well on a Ranger.
