Good price for tires?
I am considering getting some Futura LT 265/75/R16 tires from pepboys. They have a OD of 32". I think this would be perfect for my 3" body-lifted ( soon to bed ) 1999 Ranger XLT 4x4. They quoted me $485 for the tires, mounting, and balancing. Is this a good price or am I getting ripped off? Take into consideration this won't be a hardcore offroader. Just a weekend beater and mud-truck.

I run that size tire with no lift. I've never heard of that tire. I'm BFG biased. I HIGHLY recommend the BFG AT's for your needs because that's basically my needs. Pretty quite on the road, wear well, good in sand and mud. I love them. At tire kingdom it was $356 for two tires, mounted and balanced. Had I done all four tires at the same time I could have taken advantage of a discount....but I suck :(

I have never worked with pepboys. I go to either discount tire or bell tire. When i bought my tires at discount tire it was buy 3 get one free. They may have that deal going on sometime soon, i would go check it out. I think it cost around $400 for my 30x9.5 BFG all terrains(installed and ballanced). I would recomend these tires to anyone. Its a quality piece of rubber and they look mean .

It depends.. are you getting a road hazard warrenty?
if so.. thats not to bad.
I believe those are made by cooper. (could be wrong)
In this area you can get 4 cooper discoverer AT's for 440$.
Also are those the LT or the P-Metric ones.
I highly recommend getting load range C LT (light truck) tires
the tread is normally something like 17/32 deep vs 12 or 13/32 for p-metric
which means about 70% more useable offroad life
They are also tougher tires.
(note you could get load range D or E to but it will be more $$$ and rougher
ride)

Go to thetirerack.com
I bought 4 Dunlop Radial Rover RVXT's, 235/75/R15's, $75 ea, $30 shipped next day, and took them to BJ's were the were mounted on new rims & balanced for 15.99 ea, coming to just under $400 grand total.
And when it turned out one of the tires wasn't round (one of the inner cords broke loose I think and created a high spot in the tread, causing the tire to feel out of balance) tirerack.com shipped me a new one next day, Bj's replaced it for the same 15.99, and then thetirerack reimbursed me for it! Then all I had to do was leave the messed up tire at the back door and they picked it up (or rather, sent UPS) no shipping charges, no hassle! Very courteous.
They have the BFGoodrich Radial Long Trail T/A's 265/75/R16's for $96. In Stock. And Some BFGoodrich Rugged Trail T/A's in closeout (limited Stock) for $108.

Try buying big tires for 17" wheels, or even worse, try finding tires to fit the F150's new 18" wheels! My brother is pretty much forced into getting 33" Nitto Grapplers because the only other mud tire option is 35" BFG M/Ts, and hes worried about noise and on-highway power loss w/ 35" tires.

32" won't fit your coil-over front, unless you get a body lift. I have ~32" tires (265/70R17) and mine rub at full lock w/ Edge torsion bar suspension.

Maybe you got special redneck pricing :)
orginal price x1.5 now 33% off.. I dont know..
All I know is I can get 4bfg 265/75R16 for <600 installed.
I got Dean wildcat LT Load range E 4 for 515$ installed (530 w/align)
Before that I had 4 toyo open country AT P265/75R16 for 404$ installed
So that suggests ... you didnt look hard enough. In fact I did price toyo at's in
15" rim for my friend. They wanted 408 for 4 265/75R15 load range C
For the same tire in 16" they were like 422$
Of course personally I thought 600 and 700 was too expensive which is why
I am not running revos or bfg's (both great tires)

BFGoodrich are definately awesome, but I was quite suprised by my new dunlops. Didn't drive on them long enough to really get a good feel, but I'm prob. going to switch off the stock goodyears and but the dunlops back on, so I'll have a better idea.

to quote t-devil....futuras absolutely suck...they are awesome, however, for about the first 10k miles....then the soft layer of rubber is gone and you are left with a rock hard tread that will not get traction on any surface, will beat your truck and you to death...and yeah that price is a rip-off...there is no lower priced or lower quality tire on the market!!!! please do not waste your money....get bfg's...money very well spent...you won't regret sinking the few extra dollars....
