dumb lug nut question?

Sorry for the dumb question - but I want to get black lug nuts.

I've found sets for as cheap as $25 and sets closer to $100+. The more expensive sets have wheel locks. What are you guys doing? I think I should probably get a set with the locks but was wondering if anyone else had some input. Are the locks going to defer a potential theif?

I lock up my boat motors, trailers, etc but I know if someone really wanted them they could just cut the lock with some bolt cutters. If someone wants my wheels/tires that badly... are they just gonna take a set of vice grips to the lug?

Thanks for the input.

when i both my wheels i bought a set of mcgard lugnuts and locks mcgard makes good lugs problem was that the locks were to short and i didnt notice till the next day after the one of the lock lugs broke the tip fell off luckly it lossened when it popped i replaced the locks with more mcgard lugs and no more problems

long story short locks cause more problems then they fix if you loose the key or forget it at home and get a flat you are screwed if you strip the key your screwed and your right if someone wants to steal something that bad they will get it reguardless

i think locks will...i mean its inconvenient as is when i dont have my lug key around to use...

just make sure you get the right lugs haha, i went through buying two sets of lugs because i was dumb and didnt look for the right size lugs.

anyways, to answer your question...locks do work and no, they usually wont just try to take vice grips to your locking lugs...cuz its not that easy.

I just put a set of black gorilla Lugs and Locks form summit racing on my truck this weekend. Only been riding with them for 2 days now but i like them. I have black powder coated wheels so didn't want the chrome of metal color in them.

dont really have a more close up picture than these right now. If you want one let me know and I'll take one and post it up.

Also (I think with all wheel locks) mine came with a code so that if you ever lose the key you can call and order another one. wont help you on the side of the road but will help if you lose the key.

I have my factory lugs on now and they look hideous on my black wheels. I think the black lugs look great on your wheels. Is this the set that you got from summit?
