I am used to sizing low-profile car tires and fitting them to the proper rim width, etc., but all terrain tires are new territory for me so I figured I'd ask the experts: You guys!

I am not ready for tires yet (my 245/75/16s are good), but I was wondering how big of a tire I can put on my factory 5 spoke 16x7 (I am pretty sure they are 7" wide) rims?

 

44s or something. I'd really recommend 15x8 wheels though. Because your "x7" tires are really narrow. the x7 means they are 7 inches wide, and on bigger tires it basically looks like you have pizza cutter tires. The benefit is narrow tires are good in snow!

 

the biggest you can go stock is 265/75/R16 for a 4x4.

Since you're 4x4 you can fit 31s stock finely, 32s stock pushing it. 33s need a torsion bar crank(search the forums) which is free. 33x10.50 is what fits with torsion bar crank, you need a body lift for 33x12.50.

i took enough time making it use it to good use...

 

I wanted to know what would fit the 7" rim. Maybe I should have been clearer. I am by no means niave when it comes to cars (just look at my CarDomain. All the work done myself including some custom fabrication), but I wasn't sure if the wider high profile tires if used on our trucks would fit a narrower wheel than the the section width numbers would make you believe. Usually the lower the profile, the wider the rim needed, and the higher the profile=you can get away with a narrower rim.

Kiss of Death(???) Had 285/75-16s on stock wheels with no t-bar crank and they didn't rub even when tucked, but that was an Edge, but I'm pretty sure that the 4x4 and the Edge are same suspension, right?
