Been looking at different wheel tire setups and was wondering whatyou guys thought about this tire size on my Stock ride hight `02 xlt 2wd.

That's basically 31" x 10" I think is what I read, and the rims I would would put it on are 18x9 with like 5.94" backspacing, pretty sure I'd need spacers lol.

thin is I wouldn't want to lift at all for clearence, in fact maybe lower slightly if at all possible.

Just tossing around this Idea because I drive my truck on road only and I drive way to fast and take corners way to hard for my crappy stock size tires and I don't plan on lifting anytime soon and I wanna look good

 

The 9" wheel width and 6" backspacing give an offset of about +25mm (1"). Factory backspacing is 4.5" and offset is +12mm. That wheel would pull the centerline of the tire in about 1/2" and the inside rim of the wheel in about 1 1/2" compared to a stock 7 incher. Without spacers, that wheel would cause rubbing on the sway bar for any wide tire that you choose.

A 285/60VR18 is about 31 1/2" tall and over 11" wide. That will rub somewhere on a 2WD XLT no matter what wheel you use. Like any taller tire, it would also make your speedometer read low, raise your truck height, decrease acceleration rate and make your braking weaker.

I would stay closer to the factory 29" tire diameter to reduce the chance of wider tires rubbing. You might be able to get away will slightly less offset than the +12mm factory setting but not more. Staying within those limits, you should be able to go a little wider on the tire width and larger on the wheel diameter to tighten up the handling.

 

Thanks Bob! I pretty much figured that it was not gonna work, or be too good to be true. The tires in that size are over $100 less than a smaller sidewall tire.... at least on tirerack.com
