Come share your knowledge about mudders!
Alright everyone, my friend is looking for some NEW 35x12.50r15 mudders WITH RAISED WHITE LETTERING....lol. He is looking to spend around 600-700 bucks. I dont know much about mudders in general, but i told him the Maxxis Buckshots are a decent inexpensive tire, and the BFG mudders are nice too. So this is where you guys come in. Since we all know MT's are for mud, He'd like to know the best MT for:
-Wet pavement
-Snow
-Treadwear
-All around performance and looks.
So in your response, give me a tire name, and WHY you think its the best.
Thanks alot guys!

well Mark tell your friend. Mudders are not the best tire for snow or rain. an A/T tire would be better but if he has 4x4 it will help and if he has a light throttle around snow. i personally for the price you get Buckshots. but there is other good tire out there. a BFG M/T is a fast wearing tire but all mudders are even a Buckshot. if he wants a really kick as tire is a goodyear MTR's but they have a extreamly high price tag that most people cant afford. or your friend could go crazy and just get some Boggers...
edit i know my Cooper STT just down right sucked ***** in snow, but it might have been the design..
Edit2: is this one of those guys you always talk about at your shool with those Z71 or what ever there called chevy's?

i personally think after seeing both that the buckshot might have like a 5000+ advantage on the BFG's on thead wear because the buckshots are a harder compound. BFG muds are a really soft compound but thats why they kick *** in the mud and such. idk even just looking at the side wall of a BFG mud its a nicer looking tire then a buckshot. has your friend or you for him checked the price difference with BFG's VS buckshots?

I personally dont like the sidewall structure on the Buckshot, it looks weak flimsy. In light snow they suck horribly and wanted my BFG A/Ts back but its a sacrifice you have to make. I would spend a little extra and get something different Mark. Or tell him to buy my buckshots and I will get something different lol.

I've been very happy with my BFGs so far. They are the only M/T I've owned thou so nothing to compare them to.
Wet traction is not as bad as I was expecting. Probably due to the very soft compound. Obviously be light on the gas around corners as it takes very little to start the rears spinning but I have never had the front wash out or slide on me or gotten into any scary braking situations. For an M/T I would say the have pretty good wet traction.
Snow I can’t help you with. No snow here since I got them.
Tread wear seems OK. Just keep in mind the soft compound and drive accordingly if you want to decent mileage out of them. The shoulders on my fronts were starting to show some wear so I upped the PSI and that seams to have helped. Rotate frequently and they will be fine. Now that I’m thinking about it I’ll probably check the tread depth vs. mileage tonight.
Performance wise these tires are great off-road. I have yet to get stuck anywhere that wasn’t a driving error / stupid decision on my part. Most of the local trails I can do in 2wd while my friend with A/Ts is sliding around in 4wd. They don’t clog with mud like the X-Terrains I had for a little while.

Well my tires don't have raised white lettering, but i like them better than any mud tire i have driven with. They are siped and have big beefy sidewalls. Plus they are doing great on the road. I think i have about 9,000 on mine already and they are wearing just fine. Haven't had them in snow yet but they do fine in the rain and are awesome in the mud.
I have Interco TrXuS M/Ts.
