Need a little backspacing/offset help

Need a little backspacing/offset help

Just trying to see how the stance on my possible new wheels will look compared to my current ones. I think the new ones will stick out a little farthur, but i wanna be sure.

Current rims: 16x8, backspacing 3.625" Offset: -20 mm
New rims: 16x10, backspacing 4.5" Offset: -24 mm

Soooo, overall if my math is even close to correct.. the 16x10s will move in an inch due to backspacing, but their 2" wider, and offset is almost the same..so they will stick out an inch more than my current ones?

so to look at how much they'll stick out you look ath the front spacing believe, which is 4.375 inches on your current wheels and 5.5 inches on your new ones. therefore you'll be more than an inch wider on each side giving about a 2.25 inch wider stance overall. how bout that?

New wheel compared to current:

Inner rim lip moves inward 7/8"
Outer rim lip moves outward 1 1/8"
Center line of wheel/tire moves out about 1/8"

If you reuse the same tires, the tread will visually be in almost exactly the same place relative to the fender.

yea i will be going with 33x12.5's this time though

The nominal cross section of a 285mm tire is roughly 1 1/4" less than that of a 12.5. So add 5/8" to either side of the center line for the 12.5's. Adding 1/8" for the wheel offset shift would make it 3/4" on the outside. This is not exact because the tire x-section is rated by the manufacture for some particular wheel width, usually somewhere in the middle of the recommended range.

Anyway, I'd estimate that the tire will be out about 3/4 ~1" more at the x-section and the outer wheel lip will be out 1 1/8" more. Where the outer edge of the actual tread lies can vary widely due to differences in the tread shoulder design.
