Goodyear Wrangler AT/S

I'm looking into getting some new tires and am in a bit of a predicament. My dad wants me to go the Goodyear route because I can get them at a very big discounted price if I go through the dealership I normally do. I also want a good off-road tire. I can't get the MT/R's because my dad says he won't put up with mud tires because they wear too fast. So I narrowed it down to the AT/S's. I'd just like to hear opinions on them. I don't want the posts where people put in one liners about another brand. I just want to hear about these tires and if they will last me 40k miles and be good for off-roading and still good for on road use.

they suck....bigtime

i rocked them for 1 year...kept them perfectly alignend and rotated, and i hard 2% tread left on them...they're horrible and a waste of money

the best all-terrain (as vs. MUD terrain) is the BFG A/T....they have great wear and great traction

http://www.goodyeartires.com/goodyea...l/wrangats.jpg humm those AT/s look alot like our complete POS stock RT/s tires.. and we all know how ****ty those are... i would say a definate NO...

its hard to tell from that pic...

the tread is deep...way deeper than the stock tires

its just that they should be called, Good-for-a-Year tires....

and offroad...they got me in and out of trouble...but i was always sliding too much with them

well of course they are going to be better then the stock.. you can get them in a wider size, etc and they are not like the stock slicks...
(btw even though he didnt want to hear it i agree about the BFGs :smirk:)

honestly, my stock RT/S with only 13k on them still grip good. Although they are ugly looking and small, and i dont see much difference in tire design between them and the AT/S

Well the tires arent that bad.. especially if he can get them for a good price... BUT Mike specificially wants a tire that is good off-road... these just dont look that good.. IMO of course

do not get them, you would be better off with the goodyear mtr because i have seen tons of f150s with them come in, have perfect history with tire rotates and balances, and alignments and they chop easy, and wear down faster.

the mtr will last alot longer, but if your dad wont go with that, id say go with the RTS.. they suck ALOT... but you will get better milage out of the RTS vs the ATS...

and i know u dont wanna hear my brand of tire... but the bfg AT or rugged trail are very good tires.... and will last you a while ....

hope this helps!

all i can sya bro.. is that kinda sux... exactly how much of a discount are you getting?

It's not final yet and I've been looking around at others.

My dad is set on them because his RT/S tires went 65,000 miles over 3 years for him and never even showed a sign of cracking. He was still able to pull his friend's skid steer and trailer (~6500lbs) through pretty muddy stuff at our hunting land. And the discount is buy 4, get one free and on the four you buy get 20% off.

I'm realling pushing for BF All Terrain's though. From what I've seen with them is that they'll last 50,000 miles without wearing too bad and are good for off-road and snow. Otherwise I may just get another set of the michelins I have. Went 50,000 right now and still have decent tread and got me through three big snow storms of over a foot of snow...

I'll keep looking and thanks for the honest replys.

Check out this link on the Wrangler AT/S:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....rangler+AT%2FS

Scroll down to the middle of the page and check out the links for comparing the tire to other AT tires and for the complete reviews by owners of this tire. While your looking at the comparison chart, you can click on any tire in the chart to get info on and reviews of that tire. Personally, in view of their place on the chart, their price, and the reviews of them, I like the two Kumhos that rank 3rd and 10th on the chart.
