How much difference

I have a stock ranger 2003 xl 4x2. I would like to give it more clearance but not do suspension lift. How much height will 31’s add to my ranger. It’s currently running 225,75,R15. Will I get rubbing if I add the 31’s? Is this a bad idea? I also plan on doing a body lift eventually at least 3 inch. Would you do the body lift first? Thank you everyone

Welcome to the forum

You must do body lift 1st

225,75,R15 is 28" diameter tire, you will get 1.5" more of ground clearance with 31" tire, 1/2 the difference in diameter

Ron speaks the truth. If you don't want any problems from the bigger tire, lift it.

But...from someone who couldn't wait to go 31s on my stock XLT, I had to trim both the bumper valance and the mudflap mount in the wheel well. They fit, but if I hit a good-sized bump while turning, I'll get a burp from the tread. ;)

I'll post a pic in a few hours when I get home.

I used some some masking tape to plot where my cut would be and used a Dremel. I tried to keep it in-line with the bumper angle.

Sanded the rough stuff and I was finished.

I really dig how the tires fill the wells.
