Lookin at trucks at the dealerships, looks to me that ford is putting General tires on the F series and rangers... geaus my 'general tire ' idea aint such a bad idea.

they think its a better option then firestone, which is a bunch of crap. they should still be using bridgestone/firestone IMO.

General's are a cheap tire, some of them are good though, but I would'nt buy them, Ford is also using Pirellis on some of the newer superduty's which I think is kinda strange.

it depends on the model type, some come with generals, some with bfg, and the ones with 20" rims have pirellis (sp?) i think
my dad's 2004 had 17" rims with the generals, and his new 2006 have 18" rims with bfg rugged trails

In that same concensus, the rangers came with Goodyear Wrangler RT/S for the longest time, and it wasnt such a sought after tire by the consumer. I agree that firestone/bridgestone tires should be put on for stock tires, they have pretty good treadlife and perform better than those crapyears.

I hate Generals. My dad's f-150 came with them and we got 3 flats within 2 months of having the truck. He drives on rough trails/roads. He is really easy on the trails and never did anything stupid. All three of the flats were long sidewall tears. 2 on the outside and one on the inside. Now he has the Micheline LTX/MS and has never had any problems except 1 blowout on the highway. The crappy Goodyear Wranglers are better than those piles of rubber they call Generals!

They can't be worse then the junk goodyears. I understand more money they can save they will but I think most people want a good tire on their truck and will pay more for it. I think they should make BFG's an option for all the trucks. BFG's are the only tires I would put on a truck(not counting boggers and other interco tires)

been that way for a while around here the lower model f-150 get general, the 4x4's you can get BFG's as an option

and any 4x4 ranger here you can get BFG's as an option too, the generals usually come on the 2wd trucks. even regular FX4 rangers around here come with BFG A/T all the dealers are ordering them that way

I am not really fond of the Generals, only becasue of look. I won't buy Firestone's because of the crap with the tearing apart on the Explorers, i had that happen to my mom & me(tire shredded all to hell and had to get them replaced(Firestone put the recall out 2 days later so we couldn't get reembursed)).
