Low Profile

What size wheels and tires would look the best on a ranger with a 2/3 drop? I am including a picture of my ranger as it is now. I would like to change both the wheels and tires on it because I would like to black it out. I am thinking of doing 17 inch wheels with low profile tires. If you could include pictures of your trucks that have 2/3 drops with big wheels or give me some tire and wheel sizes I would really appreciate it.

17s with a low profile tire will look small i think. the overall size now looks good, so if you did a 17 and whatever size tire is close to that size it would look good. a smaller overall diamter would look better with more drop though. as it sits now, i wouldn't go to low profile.

Can you show me a photo of what you mean if you can? Thanks.

235-60-17 will give you about a 28" diameter. Just a hair bigger than the stock 225-70-15's.
I'm going a little bigger on mine. 255/55-18 for 29" diameter. They fill up the wheel well a lot better. The most common mustang size 245/45-17 (only 25 3/4") looks way too small on our trucks. If you are set on the low profile look I'd step up to a bigger rim.

I haven't dropped it yet. That's a project for the spring. Eibach 2" drop springs and an explorer 8.8 rear end. Picking up my wheels/tires in 2 weeks, I'll post some pics then once they are on the truck.

18' Gear alloys on 2/3 drop I get ALOT of compliments on how good my truck looks with these wheels, they would look awesome on yours too!
I also highly recommend the billet grille as well, you will have to cut the center out of your grille to mount it but it looks awesome! and it was only $190

here's my grille

ok maybe not...damn attachment didn't work..ugh

ok, here we go

In the very near future, I'm changing the upper bumper cover to the smooth painted style instead of the textured it is now, with the grille, it really makes the bumper look like ass, then I'm getting the factory fog lights to mount in the honeycomb spots I will be happy with the front end then. :)

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 8530)

Darth, what size tires? I was going to suggest 255/50/18s (28" overall), but I'm curious what size you're running. Also, I'd put those on 18x9 rims.

Darth Ranger 10-09-2011 12:34 PM

I'm running 245/50/18 Bridgestone Turanzas these tires are awesome on dry pavement and really help in the handling, this thing handles better than my '88 gt

JKoegel 10-10-2011 12:05 PM

Awesome look there Darth.
Very similar to the look I'm going to have after this weekend.
I'm going to pick up my 18x8 AR Phantoms. 255/55-18 Hancooks. I'm still at stock height with the Thunderbolt, 29" should fill the wheel wells nicely. Cant beat the deal. $800 for the set with less than 50 miles on them. Lady sold her ranger right after she bought them.
I will post a couple pics to this thread after I get them mounted up.

Can't wait to see it...sounds like it will look pretty awesome
