I need help cleaning up alumium wheels!!!!!!!!!!

I bough the wheels Jason (Chevyslayer925) had for sale.

I told him if he didnt have a chance to clean them up then it was fine. so i got some dirty wheels with some minor pitting.

i took a spong with simple green to them and they cleaned up pretty decent.

we see one picture...since the clear is blistered you will need to hit them with aircraft stripper, a power washer, polish them and re clear them....time for the garbage if you ask me

Sanding them is very long and drawn out. get some Steel wool and rub those suckers out. then go down to sutozone or wherever you get your cleaning supplies, and get some Meguiars Mag and Aluminum polish. I do this every year to the Grand National my grandfather has that he lets sit outside all year covered, i've never had a problem getting the pitting out.

Unless its been painted, i'm going to assume its like every other aluminum wheel i've ever removed rust from, in which case Steel wool and Mag and Aluminum polish have yet to fail me.

They're clear coated so steel wool won't work

If what 04blackedge says is true then, how come i've been able to clean the pitting up with steel wool? i've always used that way, its what my old man showed me how to do, and its worked.

a lot of aluminum wheels come clear coated. all OEM ranger wheels are aluminum, they're clear coated. Procomp 1069, clear coated, etc.

The wheels in this thread are clear so the pitting will not come off using steel wool or sand paper. As stated above multiple times you have to strip the entire wheel with aircraft stripper then sand and then polish. (re clear if you want to)

micky thompsons arnt cleared from the factory. so they are one of the few you can steel wool to a near perfect condition. your best bet is to either run what you have there or remove all the clear and redo them and clear it again which would take more effort than needed.

btw drunk text ftw lol
