I've had this problem with mine running 12 psi. That "rim protector" lets stuff get jammed up in there.
the KM2s tear it up at my normal whelin spot, ie loose dirt, mud, wet rocks.. but those sidewalls scare me cause losing a bead sucks, losing it in mud sucks more. |

Maybe for rock crawling, but you think they are bad on pavement too? Agreed on the expensive part tho.
bad in mud. great at the mall ;) |
thanks guys for the responses....
im looking for a set of M/T's. im willing to sacrifice the ride quality of an A/T for more aggressive tread. im jus trying to find an M/T that handles the best on road over all. |

definately the most unknown tire is mine. Firestone Destination M/T. i'm not just saying there bad ass b/c i have them but dude, they wear great. i've put about 4K on mine and they still have the nipples on the sidewall and like 98% tread. i'm serious. loud once you put about 2K on them though. really LOUD!! lol and in the mud, pahaha forget it, i'll follow any tire, size doesn't matter. i followed 38" swamper ltb not too long ago. never once got stuck either. there really a good tire.

If you want a good tire for the street but t performs good, try out the MTZ, its more than the BFG but less than the toys

the things on the sidewalls are there cause you haven't rubbed them on any dirt banks or rocks, not because you put 4,000 miles on them.. hell they're still on some of my tires and they have 30k on them. AND An LTB WILL get stuck if you hit the right mud hole |

ok... so i did a little internet shopping.
tirerack.com prices as follows - K/M2's - $191 Destination M/T's - $184 4wheelparts.com - K/M - $194.99 (+15% off) K/M2's - $201.99 MTZ's - $211.99 Toyo M/T's - 248.99 ProComp X-Terrain - $213.99 (all prices are based on 33x12.50x15) i cant help but love the Toyo's. the side lugs and tread design look evil.(IMO) but they are very expensive. the ProComp X-Terrains look awesome as well. i jus dont know much about them as far as ride quality, wear, and performance. if i can spare the cash when time comes for new tires i will go with the Toyo's. if i cant, than i will go with the MTZ's or K/M2's. |
X-terrains are one of the last tires I would ever go with. I had them on my truck when I first got it. Some people LOVE them, and I really don't know why. Stay away from them.

But I know some people who have them and swear by them, and theres probably a few on here that like them. Just don't buy them or you'll regret it. Oh yeah, and they get no grip on the street. I could do burnouts with them all day long, now with the BFG ATs I can't even do a burnout lmao. They were really scary in the rain too. |
