changing tire size with TPMS

changing tire size with TPMS

so i just bought a 07 fx4 level II. this weekend i installed a 3 inch body lift for the 33x12.5x15's that i have coming. this is the newest truck that i have ever owned (besides my 98 explorer sport which seems more like a dinosaur compared to this thing). tonight while coming home from work, a light came on. at first i thought i damaged the rad when i was dropping it down after the body lift and was low on coolant, only to learn (and discover) this thing has a tire presser monitoring system. i thought this was kinda neat, until i starting reading about it. now what i need to know is when i go to a bigger size tire, is it going to affect how the tire pressure is being monitored, and how big of chance its it for me to damage this thing when i am swapping over the tires (i am going to mount them myself, have access to a tire machine). it is the band style, and not the valve stem style.

its easy to break them if you dont know what your doing. if you break the bead on a changer dont put the breaker right on the sensor. and when your taking off the tire if on a machine as well put the bar and start removingh the tire at the sensor that way it doesnt hit it when your removing it from the rim... thats how i did it ina nut shell

so if i put the bead breaker above the valve stem, and put the bar in at the same place, i should be fine. correct?

Well on the machines I used. On the right side there's the bead breaker shoe horn looking thing on the sire that breaks the bead on the tire. Use that but just be gentle and as soon as the bead pops release the peddle and work around the tire. Then you put the tire up top and and close the clamps on the rim. Then put the bar and the thing that rides arounfld the rims at the valve stem. Pry the tire off the rims slowly starting at the sensor/valve stem and go around. Doing that will keep the tire off the sensor as it streches and presses against the rim. As far as larger tires I don't see why it would make a difference since psi is psi it doesn't make a difference on size
