Need Opinions on New Wheels

A little backstory for those that haven't been following my build: soon after my motor swap is done, I'll be working on lifting my truck to fit 35s. Should be doing it in Q1 of 2015.

I've been doing a lot of window shopping for wheels and tires already, and I think I've decided what I want. However, the wheels will need some modifications to make them work with the theme of my truck, which is where y'all come in to help me decide. Here's the plan:

Fuel Hostage wheels in 18x12 with -44 offset (Yes, you read that correctly) which gives them approx. 4.75" of backspacing. I like everything about them except the big chrome bolt heads on the spokes. I've already decided they'll be painted black, which will make them look like this:

Size: 131.4 KB

I'd also like to incorporate some red into them as well. My question is where. I could paint the spokes like this guy did...

Or I could paint the lip like this guy did...

And if I painted the lip, I could also paint the little studs around the lip black (sorry, no picture of that). With all of that being said, tell me what you think! And if you're curious, my choice of tire will either be the Fiece Attitude MT or Falken WildPeak AT (my current tire) in 325/60-18.

I think of all the red options, that's my least favorite. It could grow on me though.

Its all about personal preference. Of your pre-picked options, I liked the full red spokes best

What happened to E4 Pedro? Maybe you are getting too old.

You wouldn't want to over do it, but a subtle change would make the truck a little more customized, as if the 347 isn't enough.

IMO I don't think I could put paint on brand new rims. Maybe after a while, but not up front.

Painted wheel lips only look decent to me when it's a painted bead lock on true bead lock wheels. I like the painted spokes, but I'm not so sure I like them on a Ranger. So my vote goes to all black.

This is how I feel too. I love that Jeep, but I think it'd be too much for my truck. I'd eventually get tired of it. I want the wheels to compliment the rest of the truck, not distract you from it. I think painting the lip would be just enough without being over the top, but I like the all black look too.

I used to see an H3 all the time that had black wheels with a red lip. When I first saw it, I honestly thought it was too much, but it grew on me.

They'll probably be all black because I don't know if I could convince myself that it's a good idea to irreversibly paint a $1000 set of wheels lol

You could always do something else after they get some scratches, you wont feel as bad then

Never know though. Stuff happens. Your 347 might get you in an off road kinda mood

Gonna give this a bump since I came across a few other options on the Interwebz. Found an example like Dewey suggested, and I actually like it a lot more than I thought I would. May be my #2 option behind all black. Not as big of a fan of the red bolt heads, but it's another option and fits the thread lol:

I like the outlined spokes. It's not really overbearing.

Not at all. It's not nearly as "in your face" as the other painted options.
