01. No Loss Tire Caps

I found these while looking up handy off-road tools and equipment. Thought some of you more extreme guys might like these.

edit: BAH, can't fix title...that should be NEAT not need.

 

Cool idea, but 11.99, is that for a pack? or just one?

 

o0 even if you lose the valv eh?

how does it attach to the valve stem?


I like the idea, BUT i gotta protect the valve stem behind a rock ring before i spend that much on caps i get for free at work haha

I'd like to think for a pack of 4, but yeah a little pricey.

The cap is attached to a strap which is mounted onto the valve stem. From what it read, you can ditch the stem internals as the cap has an o-ring to seal the stem.

 

They actually have alot of nice equipment on that site.. I was admiring the compressors and those scrub blades too =)

 

I was oogling at the compressors too.

You have never had to air down a 35+ inch tire from 35 psi to 8 psi have you?

 

that just sounds like a bad idea.. what happens when you rip the cap off or someone steals them? haha

try actually messing with your valve stems sometime, try off roading.. pull a valve stem to air down and drop it in the dirt.. tell me what then?

I carry valve cores on occasion but i forget to pack them most of the time.

 

why dont you guys buy these?



then you dont have to remove the core. I just twist them on and when the air is done coming out you take them off. you can preset them from like 3-20 psi

i have something that screws onto the valve stem then unscrews the core.. and you pull out on a handle and the core slides out letting air out fast and keeps the core contained..

^^those are pricey arent they? It looks like i'm done with wheelin for a while, might actually sell the ranger.

Those little things are nice, people here screw them on before they start taking the truck off the trailer, then by the time its off and the tent is setup they're done. If your at like Moab where you gotta ride a trail to get to the obstacles people put them and drive, by the time they stop the tires are aired down.

Those are the Staun deflators, like 70 for 4 if I remember correctly. I have a Viair one that I got for 20 that works great.

 

naw im getting serious.. i want a truck, my moms lexus is nice to drive but i want a damn diesel already.

plus its not a total stranger, i actually know they guy.. he's my room mate from school and did a lot of the work on my SAS

hes gonna put a 350 in it and an all time tcase? like the moster truck style and make it a mud truck i think.

 

Actually jsut ordered up 2x 17" Scrublade Wipers from them - have been needing a replacement anyway.. adn they woudl work so well around here.. damn bugs..!

Im pretty sure that is $11.99 each. Not for a set of 4.

Any stem cap with a gasket will hold air with out a core in the stem. Go to pepboys and pick up a pack. They are like 2 bucks. They maybe labeled TPMS caps.

As for deflating tires just pick up a core removal tool while you are at pepboys. $3. Pull the core, 9 seconds later put the core back in. Keep the core in the tool and you wont have to worry about dropping it. 32 PSI to 14 PSI every time. You may need to do some testing to find your own times. You can deflate your tires faster then with those deflaters. And save yourself some cash.

Pick up a pack of cores. Another $2. If you drop one. pop the cap back onto the stem. grab a new stem and put them in.

Personally I keep a core removal tool and the cores in my glove box at all times.
