Need suggestion on tire
 

Its about time to get some new tires for myself. Im sticking with BFG's but I cant decide between the ATs and the MTs. I know the MTs cost more and wear out faster, but IMO they look better. I calculated it and the price difference for ATs and MTs would be $96 more for the MTs. You guys think its worth it?

I'de be getting 32x11.5r15...Ide like to get 33x12.5, but then I would have to buy new wheels to.

I would go with the AT's because as much fun as off roading is the majority of the time your vehicle is going to be on the road. I agree that they do look better on lifted trucks, but it's not worth the price, fast wear, and extra road noise imo

mmmm M/T and get 33x12.5 you dont need new rims they fit on 15x7 tire wont make 100% contact patch like it would with 15x10 but still fit...

Why did you buy 15x7 aftermarket wheels???

if you take care of the BFG M/T's they will last upwards of 50,000 + miles...

so 33x12.5 will fit comfortably on 15x7's? I made a post about this a month or so ago and ppl said it wasnt a good idea..

muds all the way! if u look around the site a little theres a few running 33x12.5 on stockk 15x7 rims.. wont be quite a footprint as a 15x8 or 15x10 but it will and does work

I believe that post is in reference the max tire size on a stock truck. You have a lift so you should be fine. BTW: Your truck looked sweet @ Azusa, one and only reason I have considered running my 32s with a spindle lift.

get the BFG MT in a 33

my bfg mt have 70k on them and they are getting bald now but 70k is alot.

why not a 33x10.50 M/T?

Thanks Tommy :D ...my ATs have last me a good 55-60k miles so far and have about 15-20% tread left on them, but I have money now and I know ill need them so so I actually bought the at big-O this morning.

Price compare for 33x12.5x15 BFG MT:

Tirerack: $168x4 = $672+$101 for shipping
Discount Tire: $188x4 = $752 not including mounting and bal.
Big-O: $144x4 = $576 + $176 = $752(tax,mounting,bal)

Im beginning to think discount tire had mounting and balancing included in with their tire price..I mean the totals of big-o and discount are exactly the same...hmmm

lighter tire (easier for axle to spin - though according to BFG the revs/mile at 45 mph= 634.......but what is it at higher mph...at 45 mph my speedometer is still accurate with my 33s. It doesn't become inaccurate until 54mph = 55mph...60mph = 63mph...62-63mph = ~70mph, all calculated with my gps)
made for the 15x7 (better footprint vs 12.50 wide on a 15x7)

M & B was factored into my price at discount when I purchased me 33s. And when I purchased my new rims they mounted balanced my 33s over to the new rims for free.

you quoted my tire size post... READ IT... stock truck... there is one for lifted if you read farther you didnt...

well I dont want to go skinnier that what I have now which is 11.5...quick question..going from 32x11.5 to 33x12.5 how much worse do you think my gas mileage will get?

looking on BFG's site this morning....

your choices are 33x10.50x15 or 33x12.50x15. There wasn't an 11.50 option for 33s with 15 rims.

10.50 wide tires are made for up to 8in rims. Sure you can fit a 12.50 on a 7in wide rim, and you should get center wear on the tire instead of even wear - over time. BFG recommends a rim range of 7-9inches for 33x10.50x15 and 8.5-11 for 33x12.50x15.

You have 15x7 aftermarket wheels. I would SUGGEST, just as the manufacturer, to use a 10.50 wide tire on your rim, unless you can afford to get an 8 or 10 inch wide set of rims. Sure you can mount a 12.50 wide wheel on a 7inch rim, but your tire wear over time may not be optimum for the tire to wheel combo. By mounting a 12.50 inch wide tire on a 7in wide rim you will not be utilizing the width of the 12.50 wide tire.

I put 12.5 wide tires on 15x7 wheels on my buddy's Level 2 and he is getting perfect wear from his mudders. they have lasted forever it seems and has had no issues at all running a 12.5 tire on a 7 inch wheel.

btw expect a 1mpg drop at the most.

Thanks for the info chris. I went ahead and called big-O and and changed the size from 12.5 to 10.5. I also added the insurance on each tire which was $10.50 a tire and the total came to 50 cents less than the 12.5s woohoo! thanks guys for the input..ill get some pics up tomorrow and show em off :D

I also figured..my 3.0 doesnt have much power as it is..and an extra inch both ways probably wont help much heh
