Performance Tires for 02 Edge??
 

Okay, I have a 2002 edge that I am going to be doing some Suspension Mods on in an effort to make the truck more "Sporty" in the corners. The only problem is I have the Goodyear Wranglers on my truck and they are by no means a performance tire..

My question is this, does anyone know a good summer performance tire that will work for the 02 Edge stock rims??? 245-75-R16

I am not in the mood to change my rims cause I like them.. I am getting them powder coated black to match the style of the Ext. Mods on the truck.. I just want some performance tires but can't seem to find any threads that talk about tires on the stock rims...

Any thoughts??

IM confused. Are you asking for size and tire, tire, and are you going smaller tire than stock?

to get that sporty feel in the corners you need to have lower profile tires like 45 or 50s becuse you have much less side wall therefore your on a firmer surface...

Im sorry to have confused you.. I know the tire size, I am keeping my stock rims, which are 16".. The size of the tire on the truck "now" is 245-75-R16LT..

What I am asking is does anyone know a "Brand" that makes a performance tire in this size or close to it, (by close to it I mean wont affect Speedometer)...

The only "sport" tire that I could find for a 16" rim and be close the same diameter of your current tire size is: 265/70-16 Yokohama AVS S/T

The Proxe S/Ts are great tires for trucks. I've got plans to run them on my hot rod chevy....the offer larger sidewall and bigger inch rim combos. But if your really wanting an excellent performance tire, you'll be going into those smaller tires=huge fenderwells. What i mean is REALLY performance oriented tires are the lo-pros. Go to a local tire shop, or look around the different manufacture websites for sizes and performance material. Powdercoating sounds AWESOME. MY self...ifi had a black truck, i'd get the rims powdercoated graphite grey....or some deep dark grey color.

I actually started looking into the Yoko's AVS S/T.. There is a shop right by my house that I have been using for a couple years now.. I told him about the tires and he told me that he could get them for me for $125 a tire.. Not a bad price when you figure I need 5 (one for the spare) and he will mount them and balance all 5 for free.. Plus free rotation..

I was checking the Yoko Website and they have a 245-70-R16.. I called the ford dealership and they told me that going from a 245-75-R16 to a 70-R16 wont make any difference for the speedometer.. Also the reviews for the tire were off the charts..

Thanks for the advice.. I can't wait to get them.. But in the summer when I get the rims done the truck is going to look sick.. I know that this is the wrong forum and I am going to check the search bar for some info but I am trying to find a body lift kit. I want to get an A-Bar for the front and the Baja-Style Roll Bar with the top mount lights. Then lift it a little and maybe change the gear ratio from 4.11 to 3.73.. (not sure if this is possible since it's a 4x4 but if it is, I will find a way...) Oh well sorry to ramble.. Not the forum to post my mod theory's in I know..

If you want your truck to corner better, as you said in your first post, you do NOT want to lift it. The higher the suspension or body, or both, sit on a truck the worse it corners. Decide whether you want the looks of a lifted truck, or better cornering, because you can't have both.

Also, you lift a truck to give it more ground clearance for off-roading, or at least for the look of an off-roading truck. Putting on such a truck tires that give you high performance when driving on pavement makes no sense, because they won't do well off-road and won't match the off-road look of a lifted truck.
