'00+ Explorer Wheels on '96 4x4?
I ran across someone who has a set of '00-'01 Explorer teardrop wheels (not sure if they came off a 4x4 Explorer or if they're even 15") laying around & I was wondering if they'd fit on my old '96 4x4. I can probably get them for free if they'll work.
Bolt pattern the same?
Any issue with center caps if the Explorer wheels are from a 2wd?
Thanks

I stand corrected, we believe the "donor" explorer is a 98 or 99... possibly has 15" rims... fingers crossed.
On a side note, the explorer has power bucket seats, center console (with audio buttons on the back side but no OEM stereo), most of the OHC and most of the interior that's in good shape.
Looks like I'll be making a few trips to help disassemble the remainder of the explorer.
No front end or motor/tranny, but there's plenty of other goodies to be had.

Finally made it back to check out the Explorer wheels....
15" WHEELS!! (don't need the tires currently on them & I'll be giving them back to the guy once I get my wheels mounted)
They have a few scrapes & scratches, but overall not bad condition. We found all 4 of the Explorer center caps, although all four were solid...none had the large hole like the ones on my front wheels (4x4 hub sticks through).
We didn't have time to check the height of the caps against my Ranger, but I believe the stock Explorer caps will work, might just have to cut out the two front caps to fit the 4x4 hub through.
The only bad thing is that he has them mounted on his rolling chassis right now & I'll have to wait until he gets his chrome Cobra wheels for the hot rod before I can get them.
They look very similar to these:
(thanks to google & whoever's image this is... I didn't have my camera with me today)
Oh the agony of waiting....
