how much $$$ to swap tires over?

Hey guys, i have called a few shops and just been stunned by the amount of money they want to swap my tires.

Basically im selling my BFG AT's and putting my factory wrangler rt/s's back on ( ya i must be high)

I have had 4 quotes: $145, 200, 190, and $212.... (canadian prices)

Are these places cracked out? I used to work in a tire shop in highschool.... we used to charge $12.50 a tire to install and balance. WTF

If this is the case i might not sell my BFG's... it wouldnt be worth it.

Wal-mart is $50 to install mount and balance with lifetime rotation and balance. Although last time they balanced my tires they were no where close to being balanced.

I'd stick with the bfg's personally, but if you want to swap them then those prices are pretty steep.

Yeah the BFG's are just so heavy, and i do a ton of highway driving it hurting the MPG's and i dont enjoy having the radio cranked, and want to hit the 1/4mile a bunch this spring... im planning to get something other than the RT/S's come spring but wow these swap over prices are terrible.

I would run the bfg till winter is over at least. The wranglers are terrible in snow from what I hear.

The last time I had tires swapped at Canadian Tire, I think they charged about $70 to remount and balance 4 tires (with taxes and everything).
I also had it done once at a Ford Dealer for $69.99 (+ tax of course)...
Keep looking.. it shouldn't be more than $15-20 a tire.

But yeah... I would stick with the BFG's. I compared my gas mileage with the stock RT/S and my current BFG's, and there was barely any difference.

I'd try Canadian tire as well. Wal-mart is hit or miss so I would avoid them. The problem you face is because you didn't buy tires from a certain shop they charge you more. Good luck.

Where I work in the U.S we charge $90 mount and balance. Those prices seem high.

How far are you from the boarder? Is it worth you heading accross the line to get them done?

But check Crappy tire, or if you have it Kal-Tire.

If you can try taking the tires off the truck. I did that to mine at Kal-tire, and they only charged me $10 cash to do them.

Ya the Wrangler RT/S's are TERRIBLE in the snow. Keep the BFG's. I'm running my stock Wrangler's now and they blow.
