Ramcharger Steel wheels.
Evening. I was looking at getting a full set of steel wheels to replace the stock aluminum ones for winter/abuse
I was just going to match my spare tire, but i'm not sure if it was actually made by ford, i see no indication of rangers ever using it. But I did find that the dodge Ramcharger used a wheel that looks identical. Has anyone used mopar wheels before? It seems they're also 5x4.5 but can't seem to find information about them to verify they're compatible. This is my current spare tire. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ran...d9a512d512.jpg My current spare This is the set of steel wheels i found locally. The seller says they came off a 1977 Ramcharger. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ran...a3aa970ca7.jpg The 1977 ramcharger wheel i was looking at. |
Not sure what your current spare is from, but Ranger spares usually look like this silver or black

You need to measure the hub bore and make sure it matches your current wheel. If so, you should be fine.

Alright i bought them. They seem to be a near perfect fit. hub size seems to be just under 3" and the stock aluminum ones are around 2 3/4(had to use tapemeasure as the calipers couldn't fit). The official size i find are 70.6mm for the ranger, and 71.5 on the ramcharger. Given that the lugnuts center the wheel, does having a 1mm difference really matter? I don't have the hub caps that fit inside, i would imagine that would take up all that slack. I think once i get these sandblasted and painted matte black they will look phenomenal on the truck.

If the lug nuts center the wheel, you're good to go.
