Help me get that old school look

When I was a little kid, in the 80's before people lifted their trucks even if they were 2wd everyone put wide tires on their pickup for cruising around town.

I want the classic look like the muscle cars in the 70's. I'd like to run some oldschool like 14x10's with Indy profile tires. So what are your suggestions.

Can I do this with my stock rims with the right tires and spacers. I believe they are 14x7. That would save me some dough.

If done right a ranger could look good old school. But not really with stock wheels.

 

Additionally, I DO NOT want tall tires. Minimum height. Like stock height so nothing to change for speedometer.

 

To get the rears to look right you need reverse offset rims . This makes the center of the tire sit closer to the differential so it doesn't stick out too much past the fenders.

 

I want them sticking out. Maybe it was just popular where I was at, but I've heard it called the Go-Cart Look. Like 14x10's WITHOUT low profile tires. Stock height, just wide my friend.

 

Kinda like this but not so extreme. This is 14x10's with the right width tires to go with them. I would think 14x8s would look better and I already have 14x7's. So maybe like an inch spacer to add a little backspace and the widest tire I can fit on a 14x7. Oh yeah, White wall out baby.

 

Then be prepared to repaint the lower rear quater panels on the box about once a year.
Depending on your state's laws . you may need to run mudflaps to the outermost edge of the tire.

 

And roger. I'm having trouble figuring out width of tire and rim or width of tire and spacer. Any help there?

This Truck has 388,880 miles. It needs painted anyway. I'm gonna go flat black so I can touch it up with spray paint any time. White walls out!

I wanna stuff the widest Tire I can with it not rubbing when i turn. Not tall. Like stock height.

I guess I mean to ask what back spacing I gotta have to run 14x10s in the front and not rub?

What is the smallest width tire I can run on a ten inch wide rim? 10.50?

I basically wanted the same look. I have bfg radials 235 60 15 on a 15x8 rim. They stick out a good inch 1.5" All stock.

 

What's the back spacing on that rim?
