Pro Comp 98's

My 02 ranger is on stock suspension.

I want to buy some pro comp 98's (15"D and 10"W) but don't know what tire to get. Maybe some 275/70r15?

Please help!

10 wide will be too much stock. 8 max. and get a 31x10.5. get away from that 285/75 styles of tire.

That's ok.

So 31x12.5r15 should work?

I'd still only go 8" wide with 10.5" wide rubber and proper offset. There is a couple members I think went that wide and it looks goofy.

31x10.5r15's cannot be run on 10's. 7-9 inches is what you can SAFELY run.

I don't think I could ever find the picture your talking about.

And I want to run 10in rims, with 31x12.5r15.

If I decide to run 8in rims, then I'll go with 31x10.5r15 bfd's_ranger.

Who is this directed at? I mentioned 10.5" tires on a 8" rim. If he really wants to run a 10" wide rim then 12.5" tires are a must.

This was the guy I was thinking about. They are 1" wider then you want but it gives an idea.

Looks fine to me? Plus an inch smaller would look even better?

32x11.5r15's call for 8-10 inch rims if your dead set on the 10's.

Sorry miread I thought your we're going for 31x10.5.... My bad, if you want to see what a tire will fit on width wise check bfg's web site. They list the safe mounting widths for the beads. It's a good way to get an idea of all the options you have.

that is what he was trying to say. its unsafe as the tire needs to flex a little and a 10" wide tire on a 10" wide rim runs the chance of blowing a bead. dont even think about airing down for any offroading.

if your set on that much poke, just get 15 or 16x 8 with proper backspacing and get some wheel spacers. either way, you are going to cause excessive wear on all front end components such as ball joints, tie rod ends, CVs, etc....

Getting a tire that fits a 17x10 is going to be hard without a lift. You'd be looking at something along the lines of 305/65r17, which is a 33. 35+ pretty much dominate the 17" size.

Exactly, and the beads are designed by the manufacturers to seat on a rim within a given range of angles. Going past that with a rim too wide or narrow can damage them through daily driving alone.

Well I decided I'm going with a 8in wide wheel for sure.

Now to decide what size wheel, tire and whether I want to lift or lower the truck!

Solid choice, you'll have alot more options than if you went for something wider.

Perfect! I want that same look (as your green '06). But which Pro Comp wheel is it,,,,the 97 or 98? Rock Crawler? Which backset, and finally, the center cap? Wheel Model no?

I'm acing my stock 16x7J wheels,,,,1998 4x4 w/factory flares, so the 31 10.5 15's would be perfect! Thanks! Don
