SO what should i buy??
 

My bfg m/t's are running low on tread and im not lookin to get another set of these. Im looking for another set of tires with good traction in snow and rain but good all around tire.

they aren't anything big like m/t's, but my bridgestone dueler revo at's are great in both the snow and rain... plus arent' that bad at all for reg. driving (they're queit)

What was wrong with the BFG M/T's? Or what are you looking for?

BFG A/T's, Dueler Revo A/t's both get good reviews for wet/snow traction. Neither should be too loud. Revo's are probably smoother.

since i have 2wd the m/ts helped ALOT in the snow but for every day driving its not economical especially when i drive in the city. They were so damn loud on the highway. Im more concered about something thatll give me just as good traction with my 2wd as the m/ts did

Well, that's the problem. There's a trade-off when it comes to traction (offroad and snow and what not) The larger voids in the tread pattern provide better bite, but the wind passing through the voids generates your noise.

An all-terrain tire will give you good traction and reduce road noise, but it won't be the same traction you had with M/T's. Except when it comes to rain or light snow. Then the A/T's usually provide a better grip (more tread and usually more siping) in wet weather.

Oddly enough I didn't really have a problem with road noise with my BFG M/T's...or maybe I just liked the hum and got used to it :)

Anyway, it seems you want an A/T tire. Those two mentioned above are two of the best. Then of course comes your next compromise....$$$.

Check out tirerack.com for some reviews and prices. Take those prices (after shipping) to your local retailer and get them to match it...sometimes with shipping though they are already about the same.

People will say I'm crazy but my MTRs do WAY better in the snow than the BFG ATs on the Ranger. I was really worried about my MTRS, to the point that I was going to get a set of ATs for the winter for the Jeep, but no need. The MTRs have EXCELLED in every type of snow up here...and beleive me, we get it all up here!

They are of course WAY louder than ATs though...

I bought bridestone revo's a couple of months ago and I love em. The have more traction in the snow than my dedicated snow tires ever had [my snow tires where not studded], plus there quiet too. Have had no problems in the rain either .

Cooper Discoverer S/T. :biggthump Excellent all around tire, a little more agressive tread than the BFG AT's, but they still have siping for the rain and snow. I've had mine on for a little over 20k and they still look new. If you are ever in the neighborhood if you want to stop by and check them out let me know.

i have some bridgestone revos and there amazing in any condition.

My Lemans at's are pretty quiet, and have done fair in the two ice storms, and what little rain we've had. I've gotten 35,000 miles out of some on another vehicle before I sold it. They are pretty soft and mark up concrete though. They do have some small side lugs, little bigger than the dreaded wrangler rts, that I'm sure help a little in slick mud if it isn't too deep. They are fairly inexpensive. Might be worth a look.

BFG ATs all the way, but if you want to be different or w/e the excuse is for not getting those then the Revos are decent

I like my pro comp all terrains....I had bfg a/t's but i like the pro comps more, do great in mud / snow / rain.....but yet they last a long time.....

im really happy with my BFG A/T's not too loud and excellent traction both on and off road

I had REVO's on my 2001 Edge, it was nice to drive in the rain without fishtailing...

Excellent ratings across the board at tirerack, but they get a little pricey... :(

i put a set of TOYO's on my truck and i cant belive how good they are in the rain snow and mud.....might want to look into them...Im actuly trying to buy a new set of tires cause i want to go bigger....

Get some A/T's if you are looking for Snow traction. And it sounds like you do most driving on road, so A/T's is going to be your best bet. My vote would obviously be Pro-Comp A/T's.

i've been researching tires intensly for months and today i finaly got them !they arrive in the morning at the shop but they are on their way ! after lots of research i settled on the toyo a/t cuz i'm poor but the top choice would have been bfg a/t. most my driving is in the city and i have a great sound system so i just can't justify M/T that may be loud. if your a casual offroader then their are too many all terrain tires to list and it really depends on what you want to spend . also if your goin for a 33 inch or larger there are a number of like really high end tires that probably rock the bfg all terrain

Well i have Revo's and i LOVE them!!!

that being said, next time i by tires i am going to by some BFG A/T... why you might ask, well first off they are cheaper, i no longer carry bridgestone(revo's) at work, i figure i will be able to give a honest comparison on revo's vs. BFG's, and even if i don't like them i figure i will have them for less then a year before i sell my truck(might keep it, will see how things go)

if you buy the BFG's then go to Costco(where i work). if i remember right they are $110 each plus tax.
For THAT price you get:

lifetime rotations and balances
Flat Repairs
and ROAD HAZARD warranty!!!

plus just like everything else at Costco you get great help. in about a year or so i am going to have to be going up to N.Cali for the CHP academy and it is nice knowing that if i get a flat or a road hazard that i could just stop at a Costco and get it fixed or get a new tire(most costco's keep them in stock)

the BFG ATs are definitly good. I never liked the goodyear MTRs, they were HORRIBLY loud and my BFG ATs felt a lot mroe stable in the snow. you shoudl also check out the TrXus MTs they are wonderful in the rain and snow and the are very quiet and ride very nice, hell my GF can be perfectly happy with them on her truck, if they were loud or rode bad there would be no way in hell she would want anything to do with them. but the traction difference between them and the **** goodyears that come stock on these rangers is scary. If you like the look of the MTs then definitly look into these because they are great tires.

nuff sayed...i just wish mine where that new agian. these tires are bloody expansive but when i need new one's I am going to wait for a good deal from like 4wheelparts or something....

What ever you do dont buy Goodyear Wranglers. I have had my set for almost 2 years and so far I have only gotten about 25k out of them and they will need to be replaced soon. I am hoping they will last another 3-4 months so I can get them after I move, that way I dont put a ton of miles on them on my way up north.

I have General Grabbers AT squared tires...and love them...they got plenty of traction and where pretty cheap...i drive down two miles of rock road when I go home at leat 5 times a day, and drive off road alot on our fields and stuff...have only had one flat and have about 20,000 miles on them...they where pretty cheap I think they where like 88 a piece or somethin like that....
