question about new wheels
I was checking these Cragar's out from SummitRacing - http://store.summitracing.com/partde...w=1&N=700+150+
Will these fit a 97 Ranger XLT?

Wrong bolt pattern.. you need 5x4.5..
These should work:

you will need new tires.. I'd recommend finding some alloy rims, steelies are heavy, and will hurt mpg a little..
edit: some CHEAP 15"s @ $38!!! http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku though they dont come with center caps.. you should be able to use your stockers..

No prob, here's a fun little tool to play with backspacing/offsets/tire size/rim size/rim width:
http://www.1000rims.com/rt_specs.jsp
Those 15x7s have 3.5" backspacing which means they would stick out more than stock, but that might be the look your going for.
The 16x7s have 4" backspacing which is stock +12mm offset for newer rangers, not exactly sure about your year though.

2.) I lost about 1-2 mpg city with 15x8" Steel Soft 8's that weighed 28lbs each rim vs 21lb stockers,, I am about to put 12lb Weld Prostars, so I hope to see atleast 1 mpg gain.. though right now I have 31x10.5r15 tires, but I am lowering the truck and going a little smaller than stock tires.. All depends if you want mpg or off-road looks..
Redneckstone has 32"s on his 93 with the 2.3L with 2" lift blocks up front..

i dont get why you guys dont like steel wheels.. i would hate to crack an aluminum rim off roading and know i spent 130+ bucks on it. id rather get 40$ steelies and bang them out, 1mpg is not much a differnece when the price diference from steel to aluminum is huge.. plus heavyer wheels on the trails give you better traction..
if your going to looks and making your truck a street demond them get bigger wheels then 15's and get aluminum wheels. street tires last alot longer than offroad tires if your hitting the pavment alot so spending good money on them wont be a bad thing, they will last you.
wheels and tires all depends on what you want to do with the truck

You guys? I was the only one bashing them, lol. Steelies work, but I perfer Alloys, I've had both more than once, and I have never spent $130 per rim, ever. I buy used.. Alloys are strong, light, and never rust.

Mine got rust from those wheel weights discount tire uses,, chipped the paint so it rusted around it, not bad, but enough to annoy me.. touch up with rustoleum when/if you see rust and you should be good.. Alloys oxidize or something when either their clear coat chips or if you dont polish them..
Post a pic of your truck!
It's a great feeling when you buy new, so if you like them, get them, and tires!
