Ranger 4X4 Tire Wear

I'm just purchasing a 2009 Ranger Sport 4X4 and noted that the tires are a little more worn on the front than on the back. Either they were recently rotated or they need to be. I don't think this vehicle did a lot of tearing around off-road or anything, but no doubt spent some time in 4X4 mode on snowy/hilly city streets. With normal accelaration and cornering, which wears faster on these vehicles normally - front tires or back tires?

On mine the front have worn faster than the rear. But I go around corners faster than I should in a truck. Haha.

Are they worn in the outer and inner edges or just in the middle?

No signs of any uneven wear on either tire, pretty uniform looking straight across as I recall. Just less tread remaining on the front that on the rear.

The vehicle has 24,200 km on it (15,000 miles).

they could have been on the back or they are just a soft compound tire that wears quiker. the front tires a subject to more wear due to increased friction while turning and braking

I've had a number of Rangers, mainly on pavement driving. Can't say either end wears much more than the other, but did get a little scalloping for whatever reason.

The front tires on my F1 wear way faster then the rear too. Although I am bad at rotating them.

I have found the front to wear quicker than the rear. Noticeably if I go to long between rotations.

Tires on our vehicles will wear the fronts out faster because of the extra weight on them (engine) unless your driving habits are allowing you to have too much fun!

ive noticed on some vehicles that when the front tires are turned, one is turned a bit more than the other, probly due to steering linkage geometry, this would cause some "scrubbing" of one of the tires, the other side would probly "scrub" when turning the other direction. i do get scalloping on the inside edge of my front tires, its not bad, just noticeable after about 5-10 thousand miles. i have 2 sets of tires, so everytime i do a set rotaion, i trade the front set for the rear, it all seems to balance out. ive only had 1 professional alignment once since ive had the truck, and that was only because i put new ball joints in.

Try to rotate them more often. I do mine on every oil change. Within 5k kms.

Well the inner tire has has to turn more than the outer because it is travelling along a smaller acr radius, It would scrub more if they turned the same amount. Your tires should not be scalloping, there is something wrong there.

Well I got the maintenance records on the vehicle today and the tires were rotated once at about 13000km (8000ish miles). And now its a little over 24,000 km (15,000 miles) so I'll be rotating them. And in this case, it looks like the fronts did wear faster.

Thanks for all the replies...
