have an 88 ext cab ranger 4x2 WD . I have a tire question. I have a set of 15x8 wheels I would like to install and I have looked all over 3 ranger forums about tire size . I find nothing about the "old" trucks. I find a lot of info about 7" wide wheels but nothing more.
What size tire can I safely install on my 8" wide rims ? I have found possibly 235/60/15 were on the stock Ranger and that 225or 235/70/15 may be a better choice. I have no idea. Anyone have any info on 8" wide wheels and tires . Backspace is 4 1/4" . Do I need to use spacers ?

Don't know what you are exactly asking but all the 235 tires mentioned can be mounted on a 15x8 safely. The 225/70 you technically could get away it too

Guess I wasn't too clear on my request . I apologize for that. What I am asking is what size tire can I put on a 15"x8" wheel with 4.25 backspace without rubbing or causing problems. I read a few conversations and derived that the tires I mentioned were used on Rangers but not the 88. Your info is appreciated but I have another clarification . With 1/2" backspace more than standard will I need spacers to prevent rubbing or ???

I guess true test is to mount them and see
