Tire size not what tape measure reads
I was just messing around today, and measured my BFGs..The tape measure read 30.5" not 32" like they're supposed to be WTF??...I heard about BGFs not being the size they are supposed to be...anyone know this...

the overall tire diameter on 32x11.50x15 BFG A/T's is 31.7"....it is REALLY hard to measure a tire diameter when it is installed on a vehicle...
here is where I got the info: http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/specs...t-a-ko/44.html |
that and you have the weight of the truck on it, the sides are pulled in by the wheel etc...
|
yeah take tire off,,, inflate right psi,, should say on tire,, then measure again,,, you`ll feel better :)
|
my 31 bucks shots measure 29.5 so dont feel bad...
|
oh ok..I gotcha about the weight and all...Just wodering, thanks though
|
And tire wear will affect that.

that is the MAX PSI... |
Plus..NO tire company is true to size. BFG runs a little smaller, as they always have. And I believe it's Interco that runs a little large as well. Some depends on rim width, tread wear, and tire inflation.

Do the inflate mod! Pump it till its rock hard to the touch.. and you'll gain an inch in clearance! ;)
|
Michelin's are true to their size. :)

others still run small i think |
TSL's run large as well. There is a pic on pirate showing bald TSL 33x12.50's vs. Cooper STT 33x12.50's
EDIT: Here is the pic. http://offroadworld.tenmagazines.com...076/153448.jpg I know the TSL's are not mounted but you get the idea. |
wow, I knew that 'stated sizes' weren't exactly accurate and you had to look at manufacturer specs, but THAT IS CRAZY!!!!
