tpms sensor and winter wheels

I am looking at purchasing steel rims to mount winter tires on. If I don't purchase tpms sensors, will this cause any problems other than not having this feature working? I have never had tpms befor so loosing this functionality is no big concern to me.

No it won't cause any problems. You will just lose that function and the light on the dash will stay lit. But you can put your current ones on your new rims. I have had a quote of $100 to do that.
