That is some pretty weak rational. As has been said, there is a reason the tires are so popular..

The only tire companies I buy are Michelin, BFG, Kumho, Bridgestone/firestone, and Continental (Only because I had a set go over 100K miles with decent tread) In that order.

I am a Michelin man, but they don't make an agressive all terrain tire, so I get BFG's for my trucks. I will never give Good year another dime, to many seperated tires under the bridge, and General is good enough for a beater, but will never be on a car I take pride in. Heck if I just want BFG type Tread for Cheap, Get Trailmark Radial APR's! LOL I got them on my GMC and they are the exact tread design as BFG's, but I paid $40 a tire for 235/75r15! Of course has 1500 miles on it in 8 months of ownership, so I am sure these tries will rot before they wear out.

HEre is the APR! I tell you put them next to a BFG and it is almost the same tread!

hate to tell you but the apr is made by kelly springfield (discount sells em as the pathfinders) and kelly is made by goodyear.....and they are very crappy(quality) sorry...

think of it this way. When you play baseball or football, do you want to wear sneakers on the feild? Or the correct shoes for the field? Its just like picking a tire, you cant pick an all terrain and try to go through mud expecting it to work like a mud terrain. Just a piece of mind, thats all

Correct, here's a quote from the Goodrich website
"The Goodrich Corporation has not made or sold tires in more than a decade. This business was sold to MNA, Inc., which continues to sell tires under the BFGoodrich brand"

MNA, INC. is Michelin North America

I've had Michelin LTX tires on my Ranger for a while now, and they are good tires. They wear and ride nicely, but I still lose rear traction in the rain. I guess that has more to do with the truck than my tires.

I didn't know and don't really care, I said they are crappy, but why buy crappy Generals for $90 when you can buy crappy generic for $40m and Get the same low quality? I think you missed the fact that They are on my $500 Pickup and It had 1500 miles put on it in 8 mos, I bet they'll dry rot before they'll wear out and if you got my point I said if the justification for buying Generals were they were cheaper why not go even cheaper and buy these. This is as much thought as I put into tires for my Pickup, I called my tire guy, "I need Cheap Cheap Tires, size 235/75r15, I don't care what brand just cheapest you got" End o call. But I appreciate you telling me I gave goodyear another Dime, that sucks, I bet these will seperate too like the wranglers did on the explorer this weekend (that makes 15 goodyear tires that have seperated on me, and I only paid for 8 of them. Goodyears suck. But if My GMC is still on the road next year I'd be surprised. I never REALLY Reccommended APRs as a Good Tire, I was making fun at the only justification for generals are that they are cheaper.

If your argument is for these 'Trailmark' tires is that they are a viable alternative to equally low-quality tires, so be-it. But the OP was asking for advice on tires for a daily-driver that sees snow and ice. I suspect he's looking for somewhat better quality than that.

Hey hazzardjohn have you put a set of general at2's on any of your vehicles? If not then I dont know how you can say they suck but i have never owned them before. I owned bfg/general/goodyears so i can say from experience that these tires are good and stay away from those tire. I understand you dont like them but untill you have experienced them hands on you can't say they suck cause they cost $90. They are alot of tires that are expensive i won't touch and cheaper tires i wont touch either but if i have never used them and someone asked me about them i would say i dont know how those tires are and you will have to ask someone who has used them. I am not trying to start anything i am just telling people that you should listen to people who have these tires or have used them before you judge them.

i had 31" bfg all-terrains, and they were great. im runnin the same but in 33's now. id prefer get a bfg mud terrain though. if you want a good ride and long lasting tire, id go with the michelin ltx m/s, but it sounds like you need an all-terrain of some sort.
