Whats the best offset for 15x8

What offset should I look for for a set of 15x8 wheels?

So if I went with +20 it would stick out farther correct?

No, less. You will need to go to zero offset or negative offset if you want the wheel/tire to stick out more.

For example, many popular 15x8's have a -19mm offset and a 3.75" backspace. Using that wheel would push the center of the tire and wheel out about 1 1/4" more than stock. The combo of the 8" width and the -19mm offset would push the outer rim of that wheel out roughly 1 3/4" more than a factory 7" Ranger wheel.

3.75" BS is what I had on my 15x8s, that's what I would go with if I had another Ranger.

^^Yup. 3.5-4" is about perfect for a Ranger. With your non-flared truck, I'd go for a 4" BS. That'd put the tires just outside the fender a little bit...about an inch. The smaller the number, the more it'll stick out.

Here's Marie's flareless truck with 15x8 w/ 4" BS and 12.50's compared to my 10" w/ 4" and 12.50's....

Two different words with two different measurements that basically tell you the same thing.

Offset: difference between wheel centerline to wheel mount surface. Given in millemeters.
Backspace: difference between inside 'lip' to wheel mount surface. Given in inches.

so the backspacing is the constant that will tell you, regardless of wheel width, if it will fit your vehicle or not, right?

Wheel width has EVERYTHING to do with it. And nothing is a sure thing. There are sooooooooooooo many variables that I simply cannot give you all the sure things.

I can type 23 paragraphs explaining things, but here's a pic to look over....

Backspace and offset tell you basically the same thing. You can figure out BS if you know the offset and the wheel width. Wheel width plays a very important role. My pic I posted of my truck and Marie's....one has 8" with 4" bs. The other has 10" with 4" bs. The 10" will stick out 2" more than the 8". I can tell you a 12" wheel with 4" would be a hell-no for a 98+ Ranger with 'normal' sized tires(double lift w/ 35's, single lift with 33's). Puts the tire out way too far and will rub and catch the fender. It's best solved on a case by case basis if something will fit or not. Mostly due to the insane amount of variable.s

i was meaning the interior part... if a 5" wide rim, with 3" bs fits, without hitting the swaybars, or rotors, or controll arms, or anything else on the inside of the truck, then a 12" wide rim, with 3" bs, should fit the same way (not taking into consideration tire bulge or fender or bumper clearance)

does this make sense? am i right?
