Wheel Spacers

Was thinking about installing wheel spacers. Not only for the look but, most importantly, the safety of a wider stance. A couple of mechanics have advised me against doing this. They said it will wear out the bearings. Any opinions???

I just bought new tires and installed them on my stock rims...2004 Ranger Edge 4.0 4X4. Unfortunately, wider rims are not and option.

04_xlt_4.0_4x4,

What brand of wheel spacers do you have? I've been reading that Spydertrax are the best but are a bit pricey.

Also, what size spacer did you get? My tires are 285 75/R 16. The way the new tires fit and, with a 3" body lift, the truck looks like it could easily tip over. Especially while off roading. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I got 285/75 R16 tires no lift just a torsion crank but I got an Edge. I also have 1.5" spacers on the front. My mechanic told me it was fine on the bearings

idk the brand but i bought them off "offroad ranger" or something like that. there 1.5" spacer. with that BL and tires i dont see your truck rolling and if it was you you prob deserved it. imo it would take alot to roll the truck. the 1.5 or 2 inch wider stance you would get i dont think it would make a huge diff in that catagory. i have done alot more then i want or feel safe doing and i didnt get the sensation or w.e of rollin. hope that helps. also to all i think my tires rubbed worse but in a different spot after i got the spacers. but thats part of having a truck
