Got my throttle body in(lots of pics)

Swapped my throttle body last week, the new one came from a 2001 3.0 Escape. Here's are some pics of the process.

Difference in size from original:

Intake JB welded and bored out to match new TB:

Filled these small gaps with more JB weld to seal IAC port from TB to upper:

Top lip of TB grinded down for IAC clearence:

Basically a bolt on with a few small modifications:

Had to make this small L-shaped piece of metal to attach the new TB to the bracket that holds the throttle cable and cruise control cable:

Found this intake adapter at a parts store and had to join it to my stock intake tube with a piece of 2.5" pipe, works fine for now but I'm going to swap my tube later on:

Whole view of the new setup(I know my engine is filthy):

Hope you all enjoyed the photos. It wasnt a very hard mod at all with a little time and patience and I did notice a nice sound increase and some throttle response.

are the comps different between the 1998 with the screw tps and the electic ones...if not could i put a throttle body on my truck with an electric tps so i dont have to worry about if its set right after i messed with it...and i tried setting it to .97 but then it idled to high so i wonder if an computerized one will work better?

couldn't you have just got some gasket material and made your own gasket for between the TB and intake??? I think it wold have worked so you didn't have to put so much JB weld in there... Anyone?

I did make a gasket, just dont have a pic of it. The JB weld is to fill the void spaces in the composite flange so that the gasket is useful. The stock setup has an O-ring type gasket and you cant use it after you bore out.

I need to do this. Really noticeable gains?
I've had my composite upper, and TB sitting in the garage for well over a year.

And i have a whole Aluminum Upper and Lower Intake manifold sitting in my garage too i was thinking of porting/polishing.

So much to do, so little time.
