Thermostat bypass???

The metal elbow that screws into the intake right under the thermostat and next to Coolant temp sensor is rotted through....does anyone know what the correct name is for this part? And would it be possible to make a new one out of plumbing fittings? I've been fighting with the A/C-P/S bracket for hours so I can screw the elbow out

that looks like a brass 90 degree elbow 1/2 by 14 threads

if you can unscrew it , take it to the hardware store or home depot

scroll half way down

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/66...nifold-4l.html

you will see the home depot nipple the owner swapped in

You can replace this with brass fittings from a hardware store or do what I did... screw the temp sensor into the port where the fitting was and plug the bottom radiator hose with something. Its been over a year since I done this to mine and so far I have had zero problems with the cooling system in my ranger.
