Identifying oil leak

I just had my transmission rebuilt at 155k and they replaced the rear main seal when they pulled it. now, before i always had a small oil leak (barely enough to drip) and after wards they said it had zero leaks (which it did-- i parked on a brand new pad to confirm). after two or three weeks it started to drip pretty significantly. i looked and it appeared to be coming from the same place as before but worse this time. i figured it was the rear main seal so i took it back for warranty gasket replacement. they claimed it was the oil pan gasket and could do nothing about it (for free).

my questions is where does it appear to be leaking from? the pan or rear main seal? both?

when i pull that metal piece back it drips out from between the two arrows. however, it appears there's old oil residue up at the top of the pan.

any insight?

thanks.

Its probably the rear main seal. What sucks is that to even check to make sure, the trans needs to be dropped anyways. Unless you have a strong case that the seal failed or wasnt installed right, the shop has that on their side and will still call it the pan gasket to cover their ***. Sorry.
