Supercharging
This May be posted somewhere else im not sure but i have a 2003 Ranger XLT with the 3.0L i know they are not known for producing too much power but i would like to take a go at supercharging it. ive been looking and i know that at one time whipple made a kit for the 3.0L but stopped production. I just want to add some more power to my truck and any help as to what kind of supercharger to use and what extra stuff i will have to buy to install it would be appreciated. Id like to keep the price as low as possible
thx guys.

try this link: Tom Morana Racing Engines you'll find a link for 3.0 liter products (3L products) under the products page. A direct bolt on supercharger for the 3.0 V6 for $450.00 bucks and it says everythings included. Camshafts, cylinder heads, forged pistons and rods, stroker kits, new intake mainfolds (both partial and complete), valves, and even complete engines that are even turbo/supercharger ready. Put to you this way, if he aint got it no body does. Any performane V6 parts I'd look here first.

No just the supercharger and intake combo is $450.00 bucks. That's a preview of what he does have availible in types of mods for the old 3.0. he also recomends upgrading the MAF and charges about $80.00 bucks for a good used one. He also has an interkooler upgrade availible but it costs extra. check out www.moranav6racing.com and you'll see what he has and the prices don't include the core charge either. some he has one others he doesn't. It depends on what you're ordering. I thinks it's either the 3rd or 4th item listed under the 3Liter products page.

ive been doing a little digging and i read on Thomas Knights page that his kit works with both the 3.0 and 4.0 engines are they similar setups or how does that work cause as a college student im short on time and money so if i could pick up a 4.0 complete kit and do just a little modding that would be awesome if anyone knows if it will work let me know

I was considering this myself, but I spoke with 3 different mechanics and the end result would be far more expensive than you think.
the price/performance here is very weak, unless you also do a ton of work to the engine (upper AND lower)
your looking at a bare minimum of $5,000.0.
but, if you really are set on getting an SC for the ranger, look around for a used m62 or an m92, both work on the ranger and you can usually find one rebuilt for a fraction of the cost of new. then build your own piping and work with a machine shop to put the intake together.
