want to put a v6 in my 2.3 liter

If you are going to go that way might as well go 5.0. It'll be the same amount of work.

I have the V6 in my truck and I wish I had an L4 because it would be so much easier to add boost. V motors have a hell of a time adding turbo's because the plumbing is so complicated.

A built 4 cylinder motor with decent turbo will be WAY more powerful than a 5.0, and get incredible mileage. Find yourself the right forged parts.

Nope. I have to disagree with 2 things out of the 3 you stated. It is more work no doubt yes. That I agree with, but as far as worse gas mpg's and power I disagree due to one thing: GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING. The GVWR on a 4 banger Ranger is way less than the 3.0 or 4.0 V6 ranger. Plus the 3.0 will out last the 4.0 by a wide margin. If the 3.0 doesn't carry any weight the engine wont struggle or strain itself and consume less fuel due to the lack of weight. That is one of the secrets to obtaining fuel mpg's. Weight Reduction. But if you're willing to go from a 4 banger to a 6 banger just go ahead and do the 5.0 swap instead. It's cheaper to do that than to turbocharge the 2.3 liter. Not unless you got around $15,000 plus to throw around for the parts that you will need.

Sorry about your truck man that sux. I'm waiting on my profit sharing to do my V8 swap. The other thing is I've decided on a 4.6 liter due to the wiring issue. To put an 01 5.0 in my truck I'd have to rewire the whole damn thing because after 2001 they switched the wiring completely. I already looked into turbocharging and after adding up the cost of doing it using the best $45,000+ on a small block V8 I'd said hell no after that. Considering I can get the 4.6 liter out of a salvage yard for practically nothing and rebuilt for less at a local machine shop using stock parts is alot cheaper. I plan on using an 04 Mustang motor with GT-40 heads and the ford racing x300 camshaft.

GT-40 heads came on a 5.0 fox body. It was OHV. The 4.6L is OHC. I never heard of X300 cams, but I am willing to bet they are for the 5.0 not the 4.6.
Also, what turbo kit costs $45,000+
I am convinced you have no idea what you're talking about. Just like 90% of the Civic kids rolling the mean streets of Cleveland.
Also also I said my buddys truck...not mine.

As for the swap costing $15,000 grand I'd really like to know where this figure came out from. I doubt it would cost as much as a 5.0L swap.

I hope your talking about the 4.0OHV motor complared to the 3.0L. The 4.0L SOHC engine is so far superior to the 3.0L in every manner, its got more power gets better gas mileage and hauls a lot more ***.

That was for the entire engine dude. What turbos do you use? and about how long does it take you?
