Water Pump Replacement
Water Pump Replacement
I apologize for starting a new thread instead of searching for a current thread. I'm on my phone and the website is acting up for me as far as searches.
I have a 2002 3.0 Ranger Edge, Auto 2WD. I believe my water pump is leaking around the gasket (unless its coming from a weep hole). I put a pressure tester on it to come to this conclusion.
My question is typically how long does this job take, and where do you guys recommend getting a replacement pump and gasket? NAPA, local parts store, dealer? I'm confident in replacing it myself, but since I haven't done one on the Ranger before I'm just looking for some feedback. Hoping it's just a day job so I can get it done on a weekend.
Does anyone think I should attempt to just replace the gasket? I figured since I'm already there I might as well throw on a new pump. May explain why I have a slight squealing once in a while even after replacing the belt when it was worn

You'll be fine with a reman pump from your local parts store. It's not too difficult to do, but I wouldn't bother with just replacing the gasket. The pump is already off and it's probably over 10 years old so you may as well put a new one on while you're in there!
Awesome, thanks for the feedback. Def. feel better off if I replace the whole thing. I'll hopefully bang it out real soon. Getting tired having to add water every once in a while and having drip spots on my driveway.
