150 or 160?

I have a 99 2wd 4 door XLT and I cant figure out if I have the 150hp or 160hp engine. I have no documentation what so ever and I know its a flex fuel. Any ideas?

Autotrader didnt help. I have found out that the 1999 model didnt have anything bigger than a 3.0 w/ 160hp. The only two engines that my truck could have is the 150hp 3.0 or the 160. Thats why Im asking. Unless I ran a dyno, there is no way for me to tell (that I know of)

Here is the link for carmax where I got my info:

I have a 99 with a 4.0? or did you mean the 3.0 never had more than 160?

A dyno is going to show you power at the rear tires, not the crank, so doing that isn't going to show you which motor you have.. but it will show you how pitiful it is

why the interest?

Ok, from what Ive seen, the 152hp engine is what I think I have. And you may laugh, but I just wanted to prove that I had the same amount of power as my grandmas PT Cruser. She has an '01 with a 2.4 4banger and it puts out 150hp. But it weighs about 2.5 tons, lol

And Im not proclaiming that it is a good thing. I just think its sad. The only thing my engine has over hers is 2hp and about 30 pounds of torque.

So your truck is a Flex Fuel vehicle? Because if it isn't you only have an engine rated at 143 hp at the crank.

Thats what I figured. I just couldnt understand how a 4banger with smaller pistons could possibly be better all around. But then I looked at the torque and saw the PT at 167 and the ranger at 192. And not to mention the PT has an auto. Worthless!

I AM CALM!!! I don't think any of the 3.0s had 160 hp... the 4.0 OHVs had 160.

Comparing a car's hp to a trucks hp is like comparing a ohio hooker to a las vegas hooker. Its just not the same...

Different set ups, coil pack, single coils, disty, etc...

Best way is to just go get it dyno'ed...

Just drop chains with them, dont race.. lol

it also depends how many performance stickers you have on your truck

each one adds 10 HP
