Mine did it once when evacuating for a hurricane after sitting in traffic for 7hrs or so.That leaves me to think it is heat related.It hasn't done it since and I have 170,000 miles on it.If it ever does it again I will replace the IAC.I do remember it being very loud and annoying but if I gave it a little throttle it went away.

Mine does the same thing only does it after the truck sits and idles, like in the drive thru, or waiting in line at the boat launch. when i give a little thorttle it goes a away for a bit then starts back up, but like i said it only does it when i sit still for an extended period.. Very annoying..

If you give it throttle you are no longer idling, thus the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve is not a problem. If at idle, you have a howl it sounds like the IAC. If you want to clean the MAF and see if it helps get a can of stuff, I think it's called CNC Electronics cleaner or something like that, check the how-to section for the cleaning how to and clean it up.
