couple of quick Bamachip questions
OK, forgive me for I am a vehicle retard...
I just got my tuner today from Doug and was reading the instructions. THe first step is to remove the fuses for the "electric fan, and fuel pump." So being the newB that I am, I went to the fuse box on the passengers side of the truck hoping that the fuses I needed to pull would be obvious. As you all prbably know, they were not obvious. So I checked my owners manual, and found the fuse diagram, but neither of the two mentioned items were listed on the fuse chart.
So I have two questions:
1. Is it important that I pull those fuses? or does it not really matter?
2. If it is important, how do I know which fuses to pull?
OK, one more thing. Do I even have and electric fan? I thought installing an electric fan was a mod I could do to improve performance and mileage...Hmmm...I told you I was a newB.
Thanks guys.

Go to the power distribution box under the hood on the driver's side. The fuel pump is #23. I found a reference to auxillary cooling fan which is #17. I don't have an electric fan, maybe it was an option. Check your owners manual to see the exact spot each fuse is located at. This information is for a 2001. If you don't have the manual you can download a pdf version. I got mine from the Ford owners site.

It is a 20 amp mini fuse between #22 which is not used and #24 which is a 30 amp. (this is for the fuel pump) you already said you don't have an electric fan. #24 will be the closest to the engine and closest to the firewall of the mini fuses. #23 is still closest to the engine but 1 up toward front of truck.
Does that make sense?

He was referring to the RUN position of the ignition switch, you can clearly hear the fuel pump running in the tank and you wanted to you could just jumper the fuel pump relay. When the programmer is installed it turns the fuel pump on for some reason, must be some sort of logic in the PCM.

The pump does not run the whole time the key is on with the engine off, it comes on for a few seconds and then turns off. You can hear the pump stop when the programming is complete. The programmer may not be doing it but the process of programming may be.
